Yes a player playing any race or based on a certain appearance should not be taken seriously. I just view it as people in real-life who can't express their racism wanting to do that anonymously online. Under the excuse by some that RP-racism isn't' real Racism and Lala's or any Race is fake there for its okey to be an asshole. Even though its clearly not okey in the TOS to treat players poorly.

Obviously its fine to treat players badly based on in-game appearances, glad we cleared that up...

Not taking someone seriously because they have chosen to play a character that looks like a child and then behave like a child is not racism. If someone IRL is acting ridiculous and then demands to be treated like everyone else, that is the correct comparison to draw. Don't liken this to racial injustice.

Final Fantasy XIV is not real life, and "lalafell" is not a real race. Equating ANY actions toward a lalafell to racism is, to any reasonable person, completely unhinged and absurd. This is a video game. You are not your character. RP is not reality.

That being said, it's not ok for anyone to be an asshole toward anyone else. If people are kicking someone from PF or telling them to kill themselves in real life, that's not racism, that's video game griefing, and should be treated as such and reported. REAL racism, would be kicking someone from a PF or telling them to kill themselves because a person found out the player of a lalafell, or any other in-game race, was black/brown/asian/etc. That is racism. Making a baby chair for lalafell's, is not.

I'm sorry but.. this feels so laughable in nature that I just almost can't believe it's an issue.. first off, from the outside perspective, Lalas only appeal to Lala players.. when you play an RPG, you take on a role you'd like to play, something you think is cool, or something that visually appeals to you.. that's why a lot of guys play female characters or straight-up anime beefcakes etc.

I'm not sure what appeals to Lala players, because I personally don't resonate with the race at all.. I don't want to be tiny, I don't want to be cute, and I don't want to look like a child character with a moustache. There's no reason I'd ever play one except as a joke, because that's what they are to me. I just don't like them, and guess what? I don't have to. It's a game and I personally wouldn't have made them a playable race even though they're based on Tarutaru. I just don't see what appeals to anyone.

So I can honestly say.. most people aren't going out of their way to exclude lalas from groups and things that I've seen in the ~10 years I've played this game.. but this chair isn't going to sway anyone's opinion of lalas either way, you either love them or hate the idea of them beyond a joke. They're wingless moogles, and if you chose to be one, a lot of people just won't ever understand why.. get over it. Also, it's a game. I get that it's your identity and you put a lot of time into your character, but it isn't you.. you're 4 feet taller than your char IRL and shouldn't need a jokingly named chair in a game to remind you to take a step back and realize what it is you're here crying about. This game's always had the greatest community, but I've never rolled my eyes harder than reading this divisive thread.

If you hate being made fun of for playing a cherub, you can change it for the price of fantasia and move on.

And as great as you claim the community to be, you then call a race wingless moogles. Guess the gloves are off and we can talk about Lore that the community loves to abide to so muich. Then by lore Miqo'tes are race known to be prostitutes for Lalafells... canonically even.



According to Lore that is... cause they are if you wanna go visit Costa del Sol. Unless of course you view Lalafell as a child not according to Lore and ignore Yoshi P's own words in his interview btw, which means you're a race? known for prostituting for a ...child? Heck if you wanna go really far with it on the RP route? go to Balmung Ul'Dah and guess what NPC's are there while everyone does their NSFW thing's specially at the Adventurer's Guild...
