Recuperate spamming doesn't add any meaningful strategic value to things IMO and I'd really rather just have a larger HP pool to begin with to reduce instances of getting deleted from existence before I can even utilize my MP.

You cannot reasonably avoid exposing yourself to multiple players on the enemy team at all times and the squishy jobs can die in as little as three GCDs which when coupled with CC and the sluggish activation on Guard/Purify means that sometimes you're just going to die and can't really do anything about it.

For real. My whole point is to spend more time fighting lol.
Just takes me out of the rush when I'm stopping to recup. I want to kill!

What is more strategic is finding a safe spot to use the long potion. People are not looking at the fact
that you're slammed with 5 other peoples spells and AoE at all times. My little damage reduction doesn't mean much
when I have WAR/WHM/SMN CCing me to hell, I can't use anything. Guard is also buggy to me and it has a delay so that is a fail.

Granted, I'm saying this more as a CC player (Shoulda probably mentioned this earlier lol)
where you're in a tiny arena and you're forced to pretty much go in all out.
There's no where to really hide and chasing is bad. It's too chaotic but hey if you guys are fine with how it works that's okay.

I know what it does, it just doesn't matter when you're getting slammed by everything in a tiny arena.
The only classes that have true def skills are the tanks.
