Not me. Orcus, the NPC from the RPR job questline has this exact same form and I was happy to think they were maybe FINALLY creating a unique asset for once. Guess I should'a kept my hopes confined to my brain meat.

Alternate worlds/universes/time travel/magic crystals are all part of FF lore - the 6.2 dungeon alone was named after a town in FFIV for instance. And the Dissidia spin-off games all but stated outright that each FF game/title is set in it's own individual universe seperate from each other, but roughly connected by the Interdimensional Rift (and yes, we've had characters from other FF games literally appear here temporarily in FFXIV - Shantotto and Iroha from FFXI, Lightning from FFXIII and Noctis from FFXV being the most obvious), so, this is only to be expected.

Also, we didn't willingly use the crystal it kind of did that purification thing on Zero on it's own accord (I have my theories as to how and why on that subject, which I will not get into).

Yoshi outright stated from day one back during the Alpha test that ARR was going to directly reference and applaud every FF game and title in the series, it's basically a love letter to the entire FF series - of course it definetely helps if you've played those games or are familiar with them to get those references though. And before you pass judgement, it's hardly the first FF game to even do that (FFIX was basically the same).

People using non-canon spinoff games like Dissidia and Opera Omnia to prop up their wild theories about the canon of an entirely separate MMORPG is both crazy and hilarious to me. Truly, this forum has hit a new low.

It's NOT?! Pretty sure I just fought the Heartless in this expansion and won against the Most Ancient Incarnation of Despair and Evil using the ever lazy and bullshit plot point, Power of Friendship (Read: Dynamis). Also, Master Xehanort totally gives you the ability to time-travel, cross the worlds (New Game+) and then refuses to elaborate and never shows up again. Yeah, totally in character for him.
