Its been this way since ARR. Its has just refined the power ranger theme with each xpac. Such is the problem with a generic chosen one mary sue story.

But this is only because EW is actually so popular, that instead of just the usual echo chamber of negativity that burns itself out, there's actually plenty of people who love EW here supporting it, which keeps the topics going. Be careful confusing "controversial" with "so many people like it they're actually fighting back against constant complainers."

That's true, before joining this forum i have never seen that much hostily toward endwalker, even in big communities or in french and japanese sites. This sentiment is pretty much exclusive to this forum in my experience.
I think it makes for some interesting discussion so i tag along, but i didn't expect the official forum to have a reception of the story so different than the community at large.

I don't know about that being EW specifically, but rather the game itself and it gaining in popularity over time - in no small part due to the failures of other mmorpgs, and hype. I think a lot of players have genuine points about certain aspects of the EW story.

I typically like to look at both sides of an argument, but I haven't really chosen to insert myself into many of the discussions in regards to the story for this expansion. I just know I have seen a lot of bleed over from, I presume, the lore forum. I've joked about it over Discord, that it must be on fire over there! My main concerns have always been content in general, and the quality of said content.

Funny, most of people I talk to have their criticisms(even if they enjoy it) towards endwalker. Not all of them strongly dislike it as I do, but a good chunk is not that fond of it.
I guess it depends on the kind of people you interact with, but I'd not say that the absolute majority likes it.

Not necessarily at all. It could just be something to do with natural forces, like magnets will snap together if you bring them close enough, or positive and negative electrical charges will try to balance out.

Its a shame that Elidibus' crystal didn't want to do anything like that. I wonder if the memoria, or Azems crystals are capable of that. Just being like a force of nature, almost a god-archetype character if you will, to just mcguffin itself all the time.
