It shows the difference between the people who read the tool tip and those that don't. It's like asking what does having the hammer bros. enemy in the mario game bring to the game; they are just fake difficulty after all :^). it's meant to be a test of skill. You know, that thing that use to go hand in hand with video games? Again, i'm you know whating against the wind, bring in the nerfs and bigger burst window~!

But does it really? Dungeons are mostly aoe spam and stupid easy anyways so its not like it matters and in EX/Savage etc... everyone at that point is obviously aware of positionals and know what their tooltips are and is just popping true north anyways when a mechanic arrives that prevents them from doing the positional. Heck, half the time I can get the positional off before a mechanic and I just pop true north anyways because it has 2 charges and is on such a short CD that the consequences of it is basically zero. So again, what exactly does it bring to the game? Its there, it exists, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really bring any value to combat or boss mechanic design and I don't really see any skill involvement from it. Its probably the furthest thing from a test of skill. Playing BLM and maintaining enochian timer in a heavy movement fight is a true test of skill. Positionals though? Meh.

I suppose it depends on what job you play in savage. MNK you could argue had a level of skill keeping positionals up pre EW, but at the same time eh, not really because they had riddle and true north. I've been doing savage as SAM since forever and honestly the positional requirements are whatever. There's very few mechanics that prevent me from doing them and when they do crop up I literally ALWAYS have a charge of true north available. Again, positinals are completely whatever to me. I don't really see any value to them. The only time positonals are slightly annoying to me is on DRG, but I also think the wheeling thrust/fang and claw is weirdly tacked on and pointless anyways, especially now that they don't involve activating heavens thrust if you miss a positional.

Also, have you done savage? Where exactly are you figuring out where to stand? The majority of the fights the entire party literally stands directly behind the boss and then moves out for mechanics. There's not a whole lot of "figuring out" there.

As I said before. I really don't care if they stay or go, they really cause no barrier to me. I just personally don't believe they add any meaning or value to the game. They just kinda exist and are completely whatever.
