If you don't like positionals, don't play melee. Problem solved.

Perhaps a related question I've been thinking about. Are they necessary?
Not to exist, but to clear content.
Like obviously in normals, they're absolutely not required. I haven't taken any of my melees into anything extreme and above, but I'm curious if a team that completely ignored them would still do enough to clear.
Extremes I imagine would be doable. Probably even a lot savage. Maybe not week 1.

So because people need to OCD their positionals the solution is to take then away and make jobs more boring? And you definitely don't loose a lot of potency on a skill by skill basis. If anything, it's a nice compromise between ignoring them and wanting to optimise.I don't like how positionals are implemented now. There's only two moves with them and you have to hit them or you lose out on a lot of potency. I liked how MNK used to have them because positionals were more of something you look to do for optimizing your damage, you didn't lose out on so much if you missed a couple. Also 2 true north stacks + riddle of earth covered a lot, if a boss spins around too much just give them no positionals like P2S.
I'mma keep it 100, auto-attacking is a crutch mechanic that serves no purpose save for enabling afk players to click on an enemy then tab out to watch Netflix. I propose we get rid of auto attacks and bake any potential damage into or GCDs.

There is only one positional I care about and that's standing in front of the boss.
The real question is, would they be able to fill the gap left by positionals once removed? My guess would be no, looking at tanks, healer stances and recent changes such as Kaiten removal. If it isnt broke, dont fix it.

After reading this thread all I can say is that the devs will cater to those that don't like positionals and it will just be another byproduct of "streamlining" the game. Oh well, that no child-, er player left behind mentality will only be a boon for the game*!
*It will bring in more short term profits which may or may not be reinvested into the game

Honestly, I think if they do remove positionals, player feedback won't have been the primary drive or even a significant contributor imo. Job ease of use has been the direction they've been taking for a long time now. After reading this thread all I can say is that the devs will cater to those that don't like positionals and it will just be another byproduct of "streamlining" the game. Hell, they even buffed provoke this patch. Why the hell did provoke need a buff.

Same reason why regen ticks no longer create hate. Personally, I love the divide the devs are fostering between hyper casuals and min maxers by going down this road. It makes for a really funny scenario for the onlookers between the two factions, lol.Honestly, I think if they do remove positionals, player feedback won't have been the primary drive or even a significant contributor imo. More nerfs!
More 2 minute window burst upkeep!
I don't really care if it stays or goes honestly, but outside of being a minor inconvenience that is immediately remedied by true north, what exactly does having positionals bring to the game? From my point of view they don't really do anything. 99% of the time its a completely subconscious action and it adds absolutely nothing to complexity of fights or your rotation. For the majority of the mechanics in savage fights that come up where I may lose a positional I can immediately ignore the situation with true north. You "might" have an argument if they took true north out of the game, but I don't see that happening....like ever. The entire concept is just kind of whatever. Its there, it exists, it doesn't really impede anything and its entire existence for most players is just "ya its a thing, whatever."After reading this thread all I can say is that the devs will cater to those that don't like positionals and it will just be another byproduct of "streamlining" the game. I would argue stance dancing has a significantly bigger impact on complexity than positional mechanics.
