FFXIV Biggest Disease....Parsing

First time poster but long time lurker!

In my opinion, I think people tend to forget that we have cross play.

I play on the PlayStation myself and I have no access to ACT (That I am aware of, nor care) and therefore I am at a disadvantage to PC users with Cactbot in raids, add-ons in PvP and in extreme cases an add-on that tell someone what raid, dungeon, trial comes up in a roulette.

Why do they have the option to skip a 70 Alliance Raid that I've qued for for 30 mins, only to reset my que due to the add-on and they dont want to play longer content? Therefore Wasting my time because im on PlayStation?

To be fair I que because I like the content and I don't want a quick clear like the 50 Alliance Raids. I'm a main healer and I love people making mistakes only to learn.

I have seen alot of discussions lately around add-ons and I do believe the more lucrative ones (Cactbot) does give players an advantage over others and can cause drama.

I was in a 80 Alliance Raid once, and somehow someone was flaming me for not doing the right rotation as a Ninja. How did they know when I'm meshed in with 23 other people and have no cast bars, yet others can complain about a rotation?

Kupo, if a person is using parses to elevate self-worth then show them love and explain it will be okay. They need good vibes to come out of this mental gutter. Encourage and love even when they are belittling because I promise you kupo they wear a cape of insecurity.

I will play devils advocate and say that they might know nin very well.
Animations (even with effects off) are VERY clear.
As said, i see things myself like AoE on single target, vice versa and also dps i dappled in pushing random buttons (every offglobal, disengages, engages while on boss).
As a healer, i have a lot of time to look what people are doing.

They might have parsed you too tho but i can tell you that parsers, on the spot, in fights, dont give you a complete rundown of your rotation.
They just tell your numbers on the surface and being low does mean:
-wrong rotation
- or buttons do not be pressed

If it was during a fight, i doubt they had time to check which skill was used how often etc.

But since they were flaming, they probably parsed and you can report them for flaming you.

Can you watch a specific person among 23 other people whilst dodging mechanics in the 80 raids without add-ons?

Edit: I turn party effects off or I can't see a thing in those things! I can see things like cast bars, agro numbers on the party etc but it's mayhem with the effects on! xD

Parsing Logs and DPS meters are fine to use, to help the individual improve their own gameplay and know where they need to improve.

Parsing Logs and DPS meters aren't fine to use, as a weapon, against others in your group/team/alliance. Parsing Logs and DPS meters have always been a source of contention in games. To me, they've been use far more as a means of, a weapon, then being a tool for the player for self improvement.

IE. Meta-slaving, always chasing after what job(s) that make the biggest numbers w/ the least amount of effort. Not allowing certain jobs to be part of the group, because they're not considered, META, by the communities that do high-end content. It encourages people to have this self-inflated narcistic ego, and to be toxic towards people who aren't willing to adapt to a Meta-slave frame of mind.

As I've leveled up, and have gotten into Shadowbringer content, I am starting to see a change in attitude, from a time where people would be supportive and chill, to now being as passive-aggressive as they can w/o being a dick.

But I will say, that I don't and will never report people who, bring a poor attitude to the group/team/alliance ect. Because it's not entirely their fault, most of the time, the person has given into the mentality of being a meta-slave, and that has changed how they react towards people who don't do as well, or aren't playing a meta job.

I play this game for fun, to be chill with others in game, to foster new friendships, and try to do my best in content with others. I'm maining a Machinist, knowing full well that they're one of the most bottom-tier jobs in FFXIV, but I don't care, because the job itself is fun to me.

No need to be rude but yeah, you can.

Turning off effects actually makes it easier to see because it's not a blur of skilleffects but the animations of each skill are different from each other.

My nin is level 5 rogue so I couldn't tell you but i can definitely say when a dancer or bard does... not good things and a reaper isnt using enshroud a lot etc.

It IS very easy on healer and sometimes tank to tell because you dont do as much normally (especially as offtank) but some people are able to keep an eye on things.


Thing also is, parsers dont make people Jerks. They are jerks with or without parsers, they'll find something to be a jerk about anyways
But then again, as said, since they flamed you... you have all right to not take being flamed.
