Unless your sole complaint is that you're not allowed to belittle random people to make yourself feel big (which is probably what most of the people complaining here are truly mad about)- there is nothing preventing you from comparing yourself to others with dps checks.

If you're one of the ultra elites with top end dps- show your elitism by joining a static that using parses, compare yourselves to others, blast the guy at the bottom of the dps chart in your discord, and feel that big **** energy you get from putting others down you crave so much but have been denied by the meanies not letting you do it in game.

This is just another example of the developers absolute refusal to compromise in any sort of way.

I think that allowing people to use it but taking action against those using it to harass is an excellent compromise...
I haven't actually heard of anyone getting banned for using it even on Stream.
When someone has been banned for it it's because they acted like complete asshats about it.

I agree with that as well. As I said in my post it doesn’t really matter to me how ‘bad’ a player is - they don’t deserve to be harassed or abused.

What I mean with their ‘refusal to compromise’ is that they’re well aware players are using dps metric tools, then take the official stance of pretending nobody does. But in my opinion if some of the playerbase is incapable of using said programs because of their medium of choice (i.e PS4/5), it’s not much of a compromise, because you still have a portion of players who can’t see this extremely important value. Having to call in a PC player and ask them to spend their time doing you’re incapable of doing isn’t very practical or accessible, especially when those players can do the same thing without requiring any sort external help (other players, not external to the game lol)

Hence, I think a better compromise that encompasses more players would be an in-game system such as Stone Sky Sea or whatever through which players can get a straight up ‘you did X dps’ system notification that nobody else can see. That way players using PS4/5 can still see the metric but in a way that doesn’t encourage harassment or abuse

It does run into the issue of ‘but people will hound others until they tell them their damage’, but that applies now as well, and is rightly a strict violation of the ToC, so surely in such a case someone would still be subject to being punished if they started following and harassing someone for not telling their dps.

Something where it's like "Do enough damage to this thing that's moving around and attacking you while also dodging some bad" as a test, and you'll get a much better read on how well your personal improvement is going. Because a lot of people say they actually do want some sort of tool that lets them measure their own performance -- not necessarily a parser, but something more functional than just Stone, Sea, Sky.

The very mention of someone doing subpar dps is considered harassment. In a game where dps checks exist, thus it is required to figure out who isn't contributing. No matter how constructive you are, you're harassing, because you're not actually allowed to know their performance is rubbish. This leaves silently kicking as the only option, or leaving yourself if you don't have that power. Where's the logic in that?

Many people in this thread who are complaining about parsers are never gonna be raiding in savage raids - now that's the gag. People are sooo mad someone's gonna call them out for their performance but there's nothing to call out if youre just doing regular dungeons and nobody uses act to track your perfomance in a dungeon, no one cares lol.

I have never been picked on, harassed, or anything because of my dps, and if I was I probably would not care cause this is just a video game.
I have never seen anyone picked on, harassed, or anything because of dps. I have seen people replaced, but typically that person also was not doing mechanics correctly, the two usually go hand in hand.
Savage, extremes, and ultimate fights have a DPS requirement to clear. That is a fact. It can be nice to know that after a couple deaths the group may as well go ahead and wipe as they will not meet the require check to clear the fight thus saving everyone time.
Normal mode raids have a dps requirement to clear, how ever the enrage timer is like 20 or 30 minutes so it's a challenge to see those enrages. I have sadly seen P4N enrage before which I found interesting cause I did not know it even could enrage.

I think people that have a unnatural fear of being picked on, harassed, or judged because some one is parsing need to grow up.
