It's sad to me that some people don't know the difference between constructively crafted criticisms and down right insulting language aimed at inflicting negative emotions. I think it stems from people just pretending they are faceless when in fact there is a person behind every statement and every created thing on the internet. Someone somewhere conceived and wrote the code for that and they are people with feelings. Maybe take a minute and reread what you write and ask yourself how you would take it if it were being said to you. The fact is they have done a incredible job with this game and after 8 or more years it's more popular now than ever. That speaks volumes. These forums have gone down hill and that is also a fact.
Enjoy Life you only get one.
Although I would agree that it is ideal that feedback should be constructive, I think that the development team would do well to note that there is a very vocal portion of fans who insist on shooting down any and all feedback no matter how it is worded.
In turn, this is often where a lot of the hostility appears. Especially when there's a deliberate attempt to downplay legitimate concerns about the game or pretend as if it's perfect and can do no wrong.
I'd also note that there's often cultural differences in play. There's a lot of people within this community who seem to mistake a curt, to the point sentence as a brutal attack even when there is no actual hostility involved.
Dunno. The forums are usually a pile.
I've hopped a few FCs since Endwalker, and all I can say is consensus among them is exceedingly positive. My current one was talking about the parts of Endwalker that "got them good" last night, and there were many points of the story that came into the discussion.
Great even more ammo for people to use to shut down any criticism for the game. The future is looking bright as ever…
It's always felt like the devs listen more to the JP feedback more so than us, been like that since 11. But lets be honest with ourselves, who can blame them? The west is dealing with a different societal climate than japan right now. Its much safer to upset the NA/EU hardcore raider and number cruncher crowd than the vastly larger casual player base.
NA/EU DRK: "Helllo Mr. Yoshi I just have a few questions about job balance and I-"
Yoshi: "Hey there lil' guy, did you like the unisex outfits we added?"
NA/EU DRK:"Uh yes of course Mr. Yoshi it's just that DRK really needs-"
Yoshi: "That's nice, enjoy the MSQ!"
It's no surprise that the JP community would seem more toxic because all the useless nonsense is filtered out and they get straight to the point, unlike what the west sees publicly, JP have very little patience with each other. Also in no way am I advocating for aggressive and mean spirited in regards to submitting feedback, but funnily enough the vast majority of feedback and write ups from NA/EU are constructive and respectful, but can you guess what criticism gets ignored? I still believe this community deserved the award, I really do, but the devs need to stop treating the NA/EU like kids and start taking us seriously.
Criticism is fine. It's not about what you say, but how you say it. I see so much hyperbole here on these forums, "such-and-such is dead", "the devs don't play their own game", "which moron designed this" etc, that definitely doesn't count as "criticism", it's just pure venting.
Then there's the bald man with the glorious beard on Youtube, who's taking it to a whole other level.
I think in this case, YP means a certain subset of JP players, but we have quite a lot of those here in the English speaking community, too.
Or, and hear me out on this radical idea, people can actually be civil and not degrade into an unruly mob of shouting obscenities at others, and shooting down constructive criticism. The vast majority of "criticism" I've seen on these forums is people just insulting the devs for their decisions, or attacking people for having a differing view to their own - usually when the OP dislikes something, and someone likes it, I've seen both ways where the OP just instantly calls the responder an idiot(vast paraphrasing here), or the other way around where the OP is called the idiot(again, vast paraphrasing) for their views.
If people actually took their time to actually stop and think before typing, a lot of the criticism would actually promote discussion, and not just be person A telling person B to shut up, and then person B telling person A to shut up, and it going in a circle with absolutely nothing actually discussed about.
For a while, people on this forum had me thinking it was the English-speaking forum that voiced their disapproval with this game the most. Apparently the Japanese player-base is just as dissatisfied, if not more.
