Yes, you got the point. It's RNG that doesn't harm the basic functionality of the job. It's also quite silly to say "RNG punishes you!" Hello? That's the point. RNG/gambling is only fun when you can lose, shocking. While I loved the Stormblood cards and it's gameplay it offered to AST. I know now that you were pretty limited on what you could use in Stormblood do to Balance being the only real choice. Shadowbringers just gave us balance for every Draw, and removed the "Damn, I didn't get a Balance!". Now it's basically...."Spire...where's the BLM?" "Ugh, I need a solar...redraw. Oh there it is. Balance huh? Where you at DRG?"
The RNG is still there, but it's based on party makeup. Like I said before Balance was always king in the past. Now we have it...all the time.
People loved the AOE of spire/ewer with a Balance spread. Well Shadowbringers gave us Divination. That is literally the same thing, but now you have a little RNG attached to Divination with seals. Endwalker removed this and just made it a strait buff button...Divination is LITERALLY Balance/AoE now.
Astrodyne is 100% personal now, and AST is better off this way. The RNG is contained to your personal DPS, and no longer hinders the parties damage output. Throw your cards right and watch your seals....nothing really changed there...just astrodyne is personal DPS now. The MP regen and haste is great I think...which will push me to Malefic/Gravity more.
The Lord/Lady is basically harmless RNG. It gives that stormblood flavor back, while giving the minor arcana an actual use. Shadowbringers made Minor arcana trivial, and even more so when they changed sleeve draw to grant that seal you were missing.
Did I prefer the RNG from Stormblood...ehhh. Yes and No. Yes I liked the thrill of the roll of the dice. But I hated that all I was looking for was balance. That's all anyone wanted. Nobody cared that spear granted 10% crit chance. Or arrow granted 15% recast timer reduction. "GiVe Me BaLaNcE TiMe MaGe!"
Now i'm free to throw out w/e I want and not feel obligated to fish for balance. AST really did get the best of both worlds here.

Yes I agree. I can't wait to get my hands on Endwalker AST.
