It wasn’t difficult. There was just veeeerry slight chance of 3 redraws not giving you 1 from 2 different seals thus screwing you from firing 6% Divination opener. Happened quite a few times to me and it really felt awful.
It’s not about not being skillful enough to get appropriate seals, it’s more about RNG straight up saying “No” and there’s nothing you can, period.
Well if anything I'd like more RNG regarding healing and my own personal dps.
I personally really like the lady, people say you can't plan around and they're right, you can't, so you don't. If I get it I'll just tell my sch buddy that she can replace her next indom by an energy drain.
And if I'm pllaning on using a GCD because reason (like lists of aoe) well I'll just replace one Helios by the lady.
And if I get a Lord well... Unto the next trick attack I suppose.
Divination not requiring seal is nice, kinda annoying to loose it whenever you die. And on the same line of thought, astrodyne is nice when you just died !
I really do not care about astrodyne 3 seals buffs, the 10% SS is nice but 5% over 15s... So 6 GCD? Maybe 7 with the speed buff + some ss...
On a what? 250 potency ? (They changed them I can't recall the new one) so about 12.5 potency per hit... Not even 100 potency every 90s... People are loosing their shit for about 100 potency every 90s...
So for those very very rare people that can and aim for 99~100% parse fine, I understand your annoyance. It's hard to hit 100% when your job has that + minor. It can effectively ruin your run.
But for some reason I'm pretty sure that if I start to do some research on everyone's who's whinning about the DPS randomness of Lord and astrodyne, Id end up with maybe 1 person above 95%.
Like people have been complaining since the release of that job a d it's getting really old...
The card system can't satisfy everyone and it will never do.
They're just balance now, yes, because it's only ever been about that God damn card. Even the minmax discord is named on that card!
What do you want them to do ? Bring back the first system?
People freak out over 100 potency every 90s and yet they want to bring back the randomness of aoe balance of SB?
Like the randomness that was so intense that you could have a run with effectively 0 aoe balance or up to 5?
Some do complain about the lost alternative effects, sure... Let me give a bole.. what will you do? Ah yes.. redraw for a balance. (Spear was fine tho)
So what could be done? Dual buff?
Balance + one utility ... Sure ... But will you ever pick a tank/heal for that added utility ?

Draw The Bole, I don't need the Bole
I Royal Road The Bole
Draw The Bole again, I don't need it
Redraw and get The Ewer, I don't need it
And then there's only 1 change they needed to put here (which they did in ShB)
Minor Arcana The Ewer and use it as a damage buff (but cannot be Royal Roaded)
Your fail scenario would effectively a slightly worst version of The Balance.
I tended to use The Balance, The Arrow and The Spear for their base benefits
I tended to use The Ewer, The Bole and The Spire for their Royal Road benefits
Anything that I don't use? Minor Arcana for a lesser but still useful effect
Heck with the loss of TP and if they wanted to simplify things, restrict The Balance, The Arrow and The Spear for "Play" and The Ewer, The Bole and The Spire for "Royal Road" (maybe "Play" becomes "Royal Road" in this scenario)
While the core issue with healers and tanks as a whole resides more in encounter design, i actually think SE is going in the right direction with AST.
If i were to nitpick on a couple points, i'd say that :
1. Keeping the seals system but using it on a "less important" skill doesn't really change anything. Reason being that in the first place, people who cared about getting 6% on Divination instead of 4% are the ones who like to optimize their gameplay to begin with. You can be sure that the same people will still care about having their seals ready for the new skill, even though it might be less impactful.
2. I still think gameplay would be more fun and diverse if we had a couple more effects available on the cards. Even having only 3 different buffs (one for each seal to make it easy to remember) would make a lot of difference with the unique DPS buff we have now.
3. Not sure i like Sleeve Draw being removed ... we'll have to see how it plays out.
4. I don't really understand the need for King/Queen to be RNG-based now. It's not like they were making a huge difference to our gameplay in the first place, but if SE chose efficiency by making all the cards have the same effect, then why are they trying to add flavor by randomizing a skill that we don't use that often anyway ? It looks to me like it will be mostly useless since we won't be able to plan around it at all.
5. Kind of disappointed that we can't use Astrodyne on other party members.
But again, just nitpicking here. Pretty good changes overall in my opinion.

Astro in stormblood=will always be the bestI suppose that sums it up. Astro has always had this "luck of the draw" feel to it. 5.0 took that out of cards and put it into seals/party make up. RNG is still there. But nowhere near what it was in Stromblood. Astro in Stormblood was a blast to play.
With the changes to minor arcana (still giving you the "luck of the draw feel", the seals being tied to astrodyne and offering no punishment for bad RNG, divination being a straight party buff not tied to RNG, play and crown play not affecting each others cooldowns.
You're right. This is a good direction for ASTRO. Divination, Astrodyne with 3 seals, a 6% ewer on myself(greed), got lucky with a Lord draw (crown that), throw combust, Fall Malefic/gravity II few times, hit stellar explosion, followed up with macro cosmos. Boss or mob literally bombarded by fortune telling and astrology.
I wonder how Lady/Lord scales? Magic Damage? Can it crit?my god did the class just felt so perfect I cant stop saying oh my god who made this job so perfect till sbh cards makes me like umm really? perhaps its why I love the new EW coming card system, maybe me and you and others who like it are the same ones the LOVED stormblood cards.
im excited for ast in 6.0, but i cant help but feel they picked the worst of both worlds for its cards, especially minor arcana.
minor arcana's function was to make something useful out of cards you dont want to use in that particular moment so you dont simply discard them. In Stormblood it was a 50/50 chance to get free damage or pointless free healing, while in shadowbringers it made your card stronger in exchange for its seal.
This iteration of minor arcana takes Stormbloods 50/50 approach and ditches all the usefulness MA had in the first place. It no longer helps you deal with cards you dont want, and random healing cannot be relied on.
its less of a QoL skill like how it used to be and more like an unreliable assize.
im still looking forward to play 6.0 ast tho. divination is nice to have consistently even if you die, and astrodyne looks like a fun skill to use and plan around too.
I had no issue with it either, and when they rework sleeve draw to be that oh yes you will always get this seal thing was totally unnecessary and only damage openers more than lless now than it was worth, with old sleeve you could have your 3 seals ready + div and draw(extra ladylord , now before you pull boss as tank, a sweet opener i love was = ninja ta , tank pulls agro , I throw divination and pop a melee card lord on nin/tank dragoon/(using a 3 melee example here) with that old sleeve draw was lovely seeing a boss go from 100 to 70% or below so dange fast, now this rework sleeve draw am like ok i get mp back fine , I get the seal am missing fine but it really was not that serious really and literally only made boss fight become a dragon on with its rework and crazy cd . Again those who whine about ast rng design idk its just ....am tired to say it.

arrow =on my blm and they never have to worry on staying in ley lines
bole =for help gravity trash in light party dungeons or aoe situations
spear= crit!!!!!!!!!! who dont love crit and crit=better burst heal /shields/raw damage
ewer= I just died as my lucid ran out what do I do for mp recovery ah, good old ewer
spire=burn burn burn and burn
sbh cards= hmm they all do the same thing, why bother playing em, oh snap I have 2 melee + a tank in my party and am the only range or snap now 3 of the cards is only half effective playing on a wrong job, eh lets just throw it on purpose on my co healer dps bot they can have use for it then,but i cant waste time to card myself when my tank and melee dps will far benefit more from it.
