Just because you master one craft doesn't mean the higher recipes would need a pre requisite to craft it.
Like a 100 BSM would need 50 CRP and 50 LTW or ARM in order to make a higher tier weapon easier, or even make it at all.
Gath's 1 gil is worth more than your 1 gil.
If you, you personally, feel that game is not punishing enough for you, then you are welcome to level your CRP and LTW to 50 before attempting to craft any 100 BSM recipe.
But don't try to push this gaming masochism on everyone else. I want my game to feel like fun. Not as a second job.

FFXI WAS a second job.
Gath is spending time leveling up gathering before continuing to the rest of the crafts. Gath understands the number of hours people spent doing all. As far as Gath knows, gathering is much more of a pain to level than crafts ^^.this exactly. i've put in my time to level my crafts. the only reason gath wants this is because he only took the time to level 1 craft up and they don't feel it's fair for people that have spent multiple times the number of hours they spent leveling to have what they have. 1 craft to 50 and no other above 22 any you wonder why they only want people to level one.
Gath's 1 gil is worth more than your 1 gil.

you are correct gathering is much worse by comparison time wise.
my point was let's say it takes 30 hours(i know way less than this) to level a craft. why is you spending 30 hours anymore special than someone else that's willing to spend that same 30 hours on each class? some aren't even doing all the crafts, but they do like leather and armorer because they have alot of items they need from each other.
once that exp curve goes up from the 100k at level 50 to 150+ to hit rank 60 alot of people that have multiple crafts will no longer run multiples up, but i'm against telling those that want to put in the effort from going up anymore. once it raises again even less will continue up in multiples.
the majority of people that have multiple crafts leveled is due to lacking content to run so they are doing crafts just to pass time for the moment. just remember though the more people that are doing crafts the lower the price is going to be. if people think items are expensive now then they'd really freak out when a piece of level 60 gear costs 5mil again because there's very few crafters that high so they can overcharge for everything.
once more content comes out that it can keep people occupied the amount of people crafting will decrease, but i just don't feel it's my place to tell someone they cannot level something else because i wouldn't be willing to put in that extra time myself.
