On the other hand they fixed it so alts can't buy houses but they DID NOTHING about letting them share a mains house and that's totally unacceptable in my view.

Relative to FC abuse I can agree that needs a major fix. No one should be able to use alts to be able to buy or lead more than one FC house.
Permitting grandfathering is also abuse of the system, even though it is on the SE decission, but it is abusive against the players that can't get a house because someone has horded an entire ward, or something down those lines, it is a fact and no one can run from that fact either.

No it's not abusive. You're being abusive for trying to take something away from someone who did nothing wrong and simply did what they were permitted to do at the time. Sorry SE and the development team DO NOT agree with you and rightfully so. They changed the rules and now buying more than one personal house is not possible on that same server. Perhaps those should have been the rules from the very beginning but they weren't.

Grandfathering affects personal housing and not free companies and affects a very small portion of the community who own more than one personal house. They need to address the FC loophole and hopefully the'll do that before Ishgard opens to the community.

It is the same thing, just private people has done it, and not people creating small fake FCs that never will becomeanything.

A small private FC isn't the problem. The problem is that people are making and owning dozens of them. One FC per account per server has to be a given and not a means of owning multiples. Decoupling workshops from FC's would do a lot to stop the creation of smaller FC's and certainly the desire to cheat the system by owning multiples given I do believe the intent by the dev team with the new rules implemented with 4.2 was to have only one per server per account.

I personally own small FC's off-server (one per server) with my alts so I can share a house with them and a small group of my friends. I don't need to have a larger FC in order for it to be a legitimate one.

Was not my reply, it is the same thing that people who is or have been grandfathered am doing... blocking up plots with multiple houses, they should never had done that, and FFXIV is not some small niche MMO anymore either for it having room for that, it is unfair to other players that they can not get a house because someone own an entire ward or +1-2 plots.

No one is arguing about FC''s owning an entire ward. The singling out of grandfathering is wrong and debating that further with you is pointless. Asking them to give up their houses and all the hundreds of furniture items not to mention all the time to craft and acquire them is certainly unfair. They broke no rules and did simply what they were permitted to do at the time. Had alts been able to share a house (and they still can't) they'd probably never have bought them. SE made their decision and they won't be changing their mind and I don't find it unfair in the least. We've more than made our views known on the subject.

Fixing loopholes is another story when it comes to FC's and I don't think we disagree there. The owning of multiple FC's in my opinion is something new although I could be wrong. That started after the implementation of 4.2 and the restricting of private purchases to one per account and the implementation of the timer. At least I never heard of it as an issue before then. With respect to those multiple FC purchases I doubt it's an issue of trying to share a house with an alt but instead to try and either flip it for sale or gain access to multiple workshops for subs/airships and gardening for profit.

The workshop issue can be easily addressed in my view although I'm not a developer by decoupling workshops from FC and putting them at Grand Company as well. Gardening is another issue entirely because the dev team seems to have a problem with placing those in instanced areas like apartments.

I put Grandfathering and multiple FC houses into the same boat, it should be fixed, or hot fixed, and of course re-imbursed the materials used for all the items made... and those plots/furniture bought with gil re-imbursed.

This is more about that everyone should be equal to each other, and as it is unilkely that SE would give all players the same amount of houses as the record grandfathered in number of property of people, then there can be only one way to deal with the issue.

You never answered, when multiple times by many have been asked the question, do you find it ok for some to be more equal than others by having this thing?

I mean, its not abusive, but it is sort of sleazy.

We have a housing crisis in the game atm. People are standing at placards clicking for hours on-end for the "chance" to get a house. I know if I owned an entire housing ward, I'd demo houses to help. There's nothing wrong "legally", but morally its pretty questionable. Its very "I got mine, good luck everybody else.", and in a way its detrimental to the MMO, as those are houses and wards that could've gone to newer players. Instead we basically have a 4-year wait on experiencing one of the cooler aspects of the game, or you get the shoebox apartment for the beta experience.

Instanced housing would solve things for quite a few people who just want a cool place to decorate. Many don't care about a "neighborhood" experience. They just want to be able to have a big home and to decorate and make their own and invite people over to see. Same with FC's. My FC doesn't really care about the neighborhood, we just want a Large plot. Let us have an instanced plot, and whoever wants our tiny ward-plot can have it. That's another free spot.

There are so many things wrong with the housing system, it really wasn't thought out properly to begin with, and its been dealing with that lack of planning since it launched.

The Abuse lies in stinginess and not giving up land that others also paid for. Don't justify SE's Mistake by blaming them in the same sentence. The player(s) participated in wrongful acts knowing of the situation. one house is enough for one person one FC house is enough for the group of members. why don't the said people who have taken up plot spacing use apartments aswell? its free to everyone just as housing in its fullness. use common sense not deluded judgements.

You did NOT pay for the entitlement to own a plot in the game, you paid for the right to use the service aka logging in and playing. The people who bought and already own house(s) are equally if not more entitled to their houses than you are to them for ANY reason or use. End of. Get over yourself.
