(Although the Enterprise does indeed appear in that scene I mentioned, it's clearly just artistic embellishment and a bit of fanservice by SE with no deeper story connections - similar FFXIV references show up elsewhere in FFVIIR, like the Sephiroth clones wearing tattered robes that resemble Ascian robes, and the Hell House fight using an attack literally called 'Heavensward' (all one word), but it was the Enterprise that made me stop and think for a moment..
    hence the crazy headcanon above.

    ^This...

Though I tend to forget in many eastern games, honor and loyalty are HUGE and doesn't always imply love, where western audiences will beg to differ... even though the overtones of love are in your face.

ShB implies Y'shtola and Urianger have a thing going, or on and off again. Earlier on I thought her and Thancred had a thing going but was broken off, they know each other so well.

    Now for my personal headcannon...

    1. Urianger is Venat, or a fragment of him. There is more to this NPC than the game is letting on, started with his gambit involving Minfillia, the WoD, and Elidibus. He's always plotting and planning several steps ahead, and even in ShB and Eden he still calculates. He is the one that the Exarch confides in for his grand master plan to rid the First of the corrupted light, and Urianger has experience dragging his "friends" along, it wouldn't be the first time he sacrificed someone for the greater good. I think we're going to meet the Ascian equivalent of Hydealyn soon, and Urianger is merely an alias. I'm waiting for him to do that animation where he puts on the light mask after a specific event, or basically a convenient plot device to whisk him and the other Scions back to the Source.

I know the whole thread is about improbable things, but the reason the Exarch targets him as confidant is precisely because of his previous gambit, so the two are essentially linked. The Exarch knows that Urianger will do what needs to be done now that he knows the truth, even though he doesn't want to - he looks so despairing as he asks why he's been entrusted with it. He keeps those secrets not because he wants to, but because he can see that he must, or the Exarch's hundred-year gambit will fail. Once he's free of that need to remain silent - in both instances - he is deeply apologetic and seems to beat himself up over it for a long time after.

This expansion has gone a long way towards showing him as more human and emotional, not just scheming in the background. There have been flashes of it throughout, but now we're actually spending time with him and it's clear that despite his awkwardness he cares deeply about his friends.

My own headcanon take on his behaviour is simply that in our world and time, he would be considered to have Asperger's Syndrome* - and that's not a bad thing, just one that explains a lot of his eccentricities. He's smart but he doesn't get how to socialise normally. He takes his speech patterns from books rather than people, and quotes prophecy at you instead of saying hello. He lectures Thancred of the intricacies of pixie language, despite Thancred's disinterest.

But this is all more like an overlay to his personality than any indication of his intentions - and personally I'm convinced those intentions are good. Look past the odd speech and the "keeping to himself", and he seems genuinely caring and loyal, just poor at expressing it.

    * and no, the Internet usage of it as an insult and/or excuse for poor behaviour is not what it actually means.

On a totally unrelated note, I've had the idea for a while that the WoL's Carbuncle summon is essentially Hydaelyn-egi - drawing on some sliver of Her power, whether we're doing it consciously or not.

And, another FFVIIR inspired one, which is going to get lots of groaning (none the less because I myself actively dismissed such ideas in the past), but hear me out:
FFVII's Planet is the Source Hydaelyn in the far far future! And based on what evidence? The appearence of none other than the Enterprise in the skies over the Cetra civilization, so by extension, we are all Cetra! (okay that particular scene was just a Shinra propaganda video... but it can be infered that the Shinra's artistic interpretations of what the Cetra were like were based on Ifalna's information, given the Cetra shown in that scene match the mural Aeris drew on the wall of her cell as a child... so the appearence of Cid nan Garlond's Enterprise from Hydaelyn in that video must mean that Hydaelyn=The Planet is also true right?

And hey, both planets have a Lifestream and materia!

*And that is not also taking into account that FFVII's universe but not world and FFX's Spira are supposedly in the same universe, but that was never really confirmed as actual canon... so....

Yes it's complete and totally darksteelfoil, but.... these are strange times indeed we live in so...
I just finished the game itself! Mostly very good!

Except the Time Jannies themselves and the "What the Kupo" ending.

Ahem. Important note: that particular bit of propaganda was an actual FMV (you can tell 'cuz Cloud has the Buster Sword regardless of what you have equipped), so they're probably just reusing a small asset a lot of people won't notice since it's so far away.

    BUT.

I do support the idea that a lot of the games take place in the same universe, though not on the same planet, due to some metaphysical parallels between several games. XIV just has it the worst due to the large amount of references to previous titles... and that idea might be at least part of why I'm not so keen on importing locales and enemies from other games, since it sledgehammers this idea with conspicuous similarities across planets.

    Whoooo knows......?

Elidibus was responsible for the death of Solus's first son, as part of his 'correction' to get Emet-Selch back on track.

EDIT: (Since I didn't want to make another new post) Midgardsormr has the powers and abilities of an unsundered, and very likely the First Brood are the same, however their children, being born of aether of the Source have subsequently weaker souls than their progenitors, which is also why in turn their lifespans never seem to reach as long.

For the sake of getting some piece and quiet on occasion, the WoL sometime spreads outlandish rumors about themself, stuff like "they're a giant beast several malms tall" and the sort.

Here are some of my crazy personal head canons:

The Warrior of Light is actually a (Japanese Salaryman || High School Student || College Student || Shut-in || etc.) that was mysteriously (transported || reincarnated) to Eorzea alongside many others.

Near the end of the Shadowbringers expansion before the fight against Hades, G'raha Tia randomly dragged seven unfortunate individuals from (North America || Japan || Europe || others) to assist the Warrior of Light against Hades... with some against their will. Some of them are even from the future which is how they know the fight.

P.S. Final Fantasy XIV is technically an Isekai with Isekai levels of powercreep.

Couerls and Behemoths were created from the Allagan Empire experimenting on Hrothgar. This explains why both creatures share facial features with Hrothgar, and why we don't see either creature on the First (as far as I can recall).
