Unfortunately, that lore is also at odds with gameplay. Any lore that is used to restrict class and race combination is just bad lore (same with FFXIV's lore to explain gender availability, though at least there is hope there).

Deep lore is good for a story-only medium, like book/movie/tv/etc, not when it would impact gameplay like in a video game and even the story of the game itself. Like how, lorewise, the player character in WoW doesn't really exist, even though the gameplay story centers around what the player character does.

I think I worded wrongly. WOW's lore isnt great. Azeroth's is. Eorzea's one, I must say though, is more consistent and you can see how everything connects and there are close to no nonsensical things (just a couple ones) plus it does fit the gameplay until you go to the mogstation (like riding in odin's horse or a giant fat cat lol)

The player character in WoW exists, but only as a generic soldier/mercenary. All of the important deeds are credited to major lore figures instead. See all the memes about Thrall killstealing Deathwing.

Yeah, so practically nonexistent in the lore. You don't take credit for what other people do unless they don't exist and it was you who did it. The "generic soldier" attribution doesn't work when the game has you become leader of your class hall in Legion, only to change that in the lore.
