FFXIV is literally the only MMO I've enjoyed mostly everything about since SWG - Star Wars Galaxies. I've never liked WoW and I've resented it for killing SWG so I never bothered to get into it. After SWG I tried the original Guild Wars and had some fun at first but got bored really fast after finishing the game's story. Next I tried Saga of Ryzom which had a really really interesting concept but ultimately I left because I just couldn't get into it. Took a long long break from MMO's after that until I found EVE Online. Tried it and while I loved wormhole exploration I hated everything else because it felt like a second job and everyone that regularly plays that game is a budding psychopath. After that I took another break from MMO's then played FFXIV during ARR but after getting to end game, maxing all my crafting classes, and coming up to a lack of content I got bored and left shortly before HW released. Played ESO after that and enjoyed the story, but the monetization I wasn't a fan of. Ultimately it turned me off due to technical problems with Steam's authentication servers. The game's developers blamed Steam and Steam blamed them so I just left. Came back to FFXIV before the release of Stormblood and I've been here ever since even though I do take regular breaks from the game to play other games. I think what keeps me coming back is #1 the story is the main draw. I've played a lot of the other Final Fantasy titles throughout the years and I'm a big fan of the franchise as a whole despite not really enjoying FF15 all that much and wishing FF13 was tossed into the sun. #2 the atmosphere, i'm a big fan of fantasy themes. #3 The crafting I love. It's relaxing and allows me to just sit back and relax. #4 The PvE content as a whole is great. Not to easy, not to hard for the most part. Allows players of every background to enjoy the game.
