It's merely to settle at a some point short of perfection, while being reasonably high enough to quell the cries of those demanding it (perfection).100% partiy is not realistic, that much is true, but a) why do you think 95% is pretty damn good ? sam is only about 3% off the top dps at any given percentile and they still complain (on which i btw disagree, purely talking on numbers here i think if anything all melees should get mantra and numbers are debatebly fine), but dancer (both at 75 so "realistically pretty good" and 95, so "really really good") is off by 13% compared to the top dps and for bard/mch it is 11% at those percentiles and b)if 95% were ideal and we are in fact at 90 which even your post admits, why not fix that ? fixing this would not be hard in the slightest, there is zero need for mechanical changes for either redmage or the 3 physical ranged, they literally just need to up the potencys of these jobs by 5-10%
And you can prove this how?I can tell you it wasn't fun for my group to wipe at 1% enrage of e4s first week just because we were running nin+smn and we had to blow millions of gil for overmelded gear just to meet the dps check while we could've easily done it with mnk+blm instead of the 2 aforementioned job.
