A bunny suit is far easier to implement then an entire race. You know that, we all know that. That's simply a texture UV map and mesh re-model of a few items. Yoshi has already said adding another race, in this case two genders for two races, is quite complicated and time consuming.

Doesn't retract from the fact people are in this thread, and others, spreading lies about males coming out, which we know for a fact as of now, they are not.
