Female viera are the thirs most played race, so they arent like u say. If it wasnt genderlocked wed be talkign differently. Guess on 6.0 with male viera the viera race will likely become one of the most popualr ones all arround

I know it's sort of the same idea- but as far as I can tell beast race reps in FFXIV are off to the side. In WoW, rep grinding is pretty centric.I'm pretty certain the lack of Allied Race characters in WoW is more on the fact that all of them are quest unlocks. You can't make a new Void Elf, Nightborne or Lightforged Draenei (the pretty races) without having a level 110 character, Exalted rep and a quest chain.
This would be like if you needed a level 60/level 80 character that is Bloodsworn/Allied with specific Beast Tribes to unlock Au Ra, Viera and Hrothgar.
Just consider the rewards- I believe it's a mount for beast tribes?
In WoW, it's one or more mounts, pets, toys. Numerous endgame recipes if you craft. Gear that is normal raid quality from WQs. Oh, and flying... and you have to do ten days of dailies just to access the current raid. Dailies and rep grinding are to WoW what the MSQ is to FFXIV- it's necessary if you want to do most things, and you're shut out of a lot of content if you try to skip it.
My point being- getting exalted reps in WoW is close to required as is, this wasn't always the case but it is now (it's also a good deal easier, since emissaries give 1500 rep with minimal effort, and even if it takes a few months it's pretty painless), while I don't think that's the case with beast tribes. Most development goes into the dailies, most content are rep dailies- I think it would be closest to saying you'd need to be done Stormblood's MSQ to unlock viera, or ARR's to unlock au ra.
I'm noticing a lot of Viera/Hrothgar still, but obviously a lot of people have switched back to their original races due to the lack of headgear/hairstyle options. I hope SE realizes this and does something about it soon. I want my unlockable hairstyles that I worked hard for.
Player

I'm the same, just can't get mine quite right, what face, eyes, nose, ect did you use?
Oddly enough it's the ears for me that make it hard to go viera. If you kept everything the same (hair options, build, proportions etc) the same but replaced the bunny ears with elf ears I'd be all over them. Unfortunately something about the Elezen optiosn I've just never been able to make an elezen I've liked with the CC.
Ear physics would be nice, not necessarily like the GS or fox ears that boing at every movement but at least while doing emotes.
When did they say that or are you just assuming it's 6.0?

I'm going to say it's an assumption, nothing from Yoshi on it, nothing official posted that I've seen. More of a wish then an assumption really until we get word otherwise.
Last official thing I can find is an interview.
"We have to identify what they're coming from, so we can respond correctly," Yoshida said about concerned fans. "We want to review all the feedback that players gave. The bottom line is that the addition of a race takes quite a lot of cost; it's really quite an undertaking."
Yoshida added that in Final Fantasy XII, which is where Viera is from, the male Viera do not show themselves in public, so Final Fantasy XIV Online is staying loyal to the lore with only offering a female option. Yoshida explained that the male-only Hrothgar is Square Enix's effort to offer a new male-only race in response to Viera being female-only.

Actually, his last official announcement was in the Letter from the Producer XLII.I'm going to say it's an assumption, nothing from Yoshi on it, nothing official posted that I've seen. More of a wish then an assumption really until we get word otherwise.

Which is the same usual message he'll give when he doesn't want to say no nor confirm something. As you play through Shadowbringers, you’ll learn that both male Viera and female Hrothgar exist. While you won’t meet any in person, if we developers can find a way to address the various problems which are preventing us from implementing them, then perhaps someday you’ll be able to see them for yourself. I want to be clear that this does not mean it will eventually happen, and that I cannot make any promises at this time. I hope you will understand and bear with us.
Also, what people need to keep in mind, is that they started working on the new races during patch 4.1 and until now, they still can't wear all headgear and have some limited features. So if they don't start working on the missing genders during 5.1, then seeing them in 6.0 would be next to impossible. Add to that the amount of gear that will be added during ShB life that needs to be taken into consideration. So a more realistic assumption would be 7.0 if they decided to.

I'm going to say never then. Not a bad nor a good thing. I'm sure people will eventually cool down in wanting female Ro and Male Viera eventually.Actually, his last official announcement was in the Letter from the Producer XLII.
