I do too. I feel like it's a shame as there's a lot of very nice hairstyles that would look nice on Viera, but something tells me SE is working on that pretty diligently. We'll probably see more viera hairstyles later down the line.
Which is, yet again, never said they are being considered. I'm not even sure how any of those words posted there could even be interpreted as such. If anything, what is being said, is a big, huge, large No, due to the costs and time required implied in such a thing.Here.
The "problems" referenced are covered in section 1 of that, and are cost-driven, as per earlier interviews. My interpretation of it is that they're waiting to see if the cost is worth it but they won't know that until they see 1) how ShB performs and 2) how the new races perform.
Adding the other genders was a balancing act done for ARR for the relaunch of the game. As in, they had to fully reboot the game lol
I am just seeing the same voices crying out, repeatedly. Thinking the more they post that larger the thread means the higher chance. But if you break down this thread to those arguing, begging, crying and driven for the change to be added, becomes rather uh... slim...
There can be many interpretations of the quote, that being said if it was a flat no they would have merely said a flat no similar to their reaction to both Blue Mage being unlimited and the Addition of child like models. The answers were not at this time and a flat no, respectively. So while I do agree that interpreting it as a flat yes could be construed as misinterpretation, it's rather heavy handed to call it complete lying, this same argument again could be used to describe interpreting it as a flat no.
At best I believe it's a maybe, they stated that currently the issue preventing the addition of male viera and female hrothgar is both technical and cost derived. IF they can fix both of these issues than PERHAPS we may see the missing genders some day.
If the sentences was worded something along the lines of "We do not currently plan on focusing on this issue" or "At this time we cannot fix this issue" then I would say that yes, that is more of a flat no. I will agree that people stating they will be released during the 5.X cycle or 6.0 might be being presumptuous it is still not lying, at best it's speculation on a similar level to people speculating about the Nier raid. I don't see how it's immediately harmful.
Either way none of this devalues the thread, as it is primarily a request thread until the dev team says a flat and forward "No" I don't believe there's any real harm in making this request as long as the dev team are not overworking themselves. Now as far as keeping the thread constantly bumped, I do not believe I am in the capacity to judge this, as I am neither a moderator nor an admin. I believe it has merit for allowing people new to the forums, like myself to voice their support, but I also understand seeing it bumped by the same posters can be eye rolling. I do believe that the posters here have a right to keep it bumped if there is both interest or they believe the discussion is relevant as long as they are not breaking forum guidelines.
This is of course my opinion and I mean no offense by it.
Edit: I rambled on for quite a bit, my apologies.

I'm not saying I am against male buns either, I'd welcome them gladly. But facts and truth are what are needed, not false hopes. I was born in america and "lived" there 3 weeks before going back to japan with my mother before we came to america when I was 14, so let me enlighten some on how... 'weird' we are.
Overly polite, and considering, over worked, emotional mess hidden. Sums up the country well. That being said, the reasons listed for not being implemented are about as close to a no as you'll get. How the culture is, odd as it sounds.
So, I do consider it a lie, fallacy and false hope when people interpret such things, by using far reaching methods. Unless we see a confirmed, and a solid yes, it's still in a "Not happening" state.
You guys are looking way too much into that quote.

"Due to lore issues, we can't make this happen." - How to fix: "However, in recent times, there has been a sudden resurgence of the ♂ Viera." Done.

I think this all started with a comment by zeylos, I'll edit that in after. Now they are debating whether what Yoshida actually meant (that's what they are referring to). When my interpretation was more like 'maybe in the future'.
This one.
Apparently, male viera supporters are "spreading lies".

"In summary, these are the circumstances which informed my previous statement that this is likely to be the last time we add new playable races; as at this point in time, it is difficult to see us maintaining our patch update schedule if we have to account for more than seven races and two genders (technically six races with two genders and two races with a single gender, but this is the functional equivalent)."
(7 "races" in total with 2 genders. 6 races with 2 genders, 1 male 1 female combined into the last 7th "race".)
"Although these second and third points are in conflict, we nevertheless felt that it was in the best interests of our players to try and satisfy both demands. We understood that some players would be upset if they were unable to use their preferred gender, but even so, after much internal discussion, we decided this approach was the best way to improve the overall game experience.
We could have decided to implement only male and female Viera, or only male and female Hrothgar. However, we instead went with an approach intended to expand the possibilities in multiple ways.
As you play through Shadowbringers, you’ll learn that both male Viera and female Hrothgar exist. While you won’t meet any in person, if we developers can find a way to address the various problems which are preventing us from implementing them, then perhaps someday you’ll be able to see them for yourself. I want to be clear that this does not mean it will eventually happen, and that I cannot make any promises at this time. I hope you will understand and bear with us.
There are times when people can't get what they want. Sad but true.
But after reading that "Letter from the Producer" I'm pretty sure that there won't be anything else.
The important thing now is for people to embrace the fact that there's a high chance this is it and find a way to try and accept it in a good manner.
Not whine and cry even louder.
There has been an answer, for quite some time now it seems. That Letter was from 05-10-2019.
I guess people just can't deal with not getting what they want.

I'd take it as they aren't actually working on it or planning to in the near future, but it's not a 'no' right now. Maybe one day is still what I got from it. Circumstances do change over time."In summary, these are the circumstances which informed my previous statement that this is likely to be the last time we add new playable races; as at this point in time, it is difficult to see us maintaining our patch update schedule if we have to account for more than seven races and two genders (technically six races with two genders and two races with a single gender, but this is the functional equivalent)."

Well, that do sound to me like there won't be any male Viera or female Hrothgar.

I just think it's funny that people are thinking so critically over that comment made by Zeylos.
