Again, you're comparing a game that over-emphasizes its story and talks about its MSQ like it's the words of god ascended on high to a game that is in the genre of grind grind grind.

One of those games I expect to be at the level of the story if I do the story. 14 isnt the first MMO to do things in the "follow our linear story through the world" progression. Guild Wars did it a decade earlier (and I'd argue it did it better because all its grindy elements were optional and/or after the story had ended for that chapter).

Similarly, if you play pantheon should it ever release, you should expect it to be a slower paced, significantly grindier grind of a grind, and should probably not expect from it the things you expect from an on-the-rails experience in 14.
You are entirely missing the point, you cannot lambast one for a grindy experience and then allow another a grindy experience and hold that a grindy experience is a point against one and not the other without being hypocritical. He doesn't qualify the difference between JRPG and KRPG, just that it is an MMO and it's horrendously grindy.
