Gender locked race?

I don't know, maybe because lions are popular? You keep bringing up ESO like it's something SE wouldn't risk releasing something similar which is a bit ridiculous. When they decided on the new race it was long before any kind of announcement for ESO's expansion. They aren't going to just throw out work they've started and decided on just because some competitor may have something similar coming. Especially with MMO's that are notorious for copying aspects of competing products. ESO already had Khajit, the expansion being set in their homeland has virtually no impact on what kind of race FFXIV would choose to add.



Unless your version looks a lot better and has more interesting aspects about it, which isn't hard against Elder Scrolls anything.

You're not getting the point that I'm trying to make. It's why would you genderlock it when the competitors have a similar race that isn't gender locked when you're both trying to attract a certain market during a release of your new expansions? The fact ESO already has Khajit and has added on them for years upon years. And then add in a new location that hasn't been properly visited where said location will pander to said race. The 'feline beast race' is in their favour right from the get-go as we've heard nothing about Hrothgar yet other than leaks - though that will change come FF, obviously. But really, does it seem smart to hinder your expansion with a genderlock, not just one but two? How are you going to attract the market that supposedly wants the beast race when a good portion of them aren't even going to be catered for due to a gender lock? And even then; those that are subbed are also met with this genderlock where they can't fantasia to a specific gender of these new races.

Nowhere did I state that my argument was, 'lol square should scrap what they've made due to ESO' - no. It's 'What can we do to overcompensate and make a profit?'.

Yeah - I'm sure FF can have the spin-off Ronso completely trump Khajiit in every shape way or form - even with half the race missing due to genderlocks. That was sarcasm if it wasn't obvious - the two aren't comparable. Not even Ronso and Khajiit are comparable in the lore department - would be actually unfair to compare them.
