Also I understand what you're getting at with moonkeepers but I'd also suggest to keep in mind that if /nothing/ happens then male Viera will look like children. Moonkeeper males still go through puberty. Although I get you were suggesting "doesn't have to be extreme" , so maybe we can agree nothing happening is a bit awkward but how much something is up to discuss.

I actually like the idea of the males looking more 'attractive' than the females. Though here's a thing, if they're so rare in number and the likes. Who fights for whos attention? Do females have to compete with other females to get a males attention? One line the Dramaturge shared was regarding 'souls' so I thought of took it that they had soul mates or something and perhaps bonded with a specific female? But at the same time? Hmm... It honestly makes me curious about how that works. Or is it futurama snoo snoo type of deal - then yeah, the dudes really need that damn endurance.

Maybe that's a sign of the limitations of the worldbuilding within the lore of the game. These questions are legitimately raised by the implications of having such few male numbers, yet we don't have answers to them.

I, too, wouldn't want kid looking viera. It wouldn't seem right, and I don't just mean because of the shota/loli thing. Still, I'm on the side of bunbros that look "pretty," but Legolas (or Aymeric?) pretty. Not necessarily like straight up women but without boobs.

I agree on both points. The art is is nice, but if male Vieras turn out like how CoolDad drew, I wouldn't be lured to play it at all. And I believe the art you posted is still the best theoretical representation of a male Viera.

I don't see it as being even bulky. Buff? Yes, but not bulky. I think there's a difference between muscular/buff and straight-up bulky. To me, Roegadyn are bulky. They got wider midsections.

Here are some real-life examples

Two totally different builds. One I would consider bulky, and the other just plain buff.

I've read a lot of people on here saying we have enough bulky builds, but I disagree. The only real bulky characters we have are male Roegadyn, in my opinion. And the closest thing to buff would be male Highlanders and male Au Ra. I would not consider male Au Ra to be bulky. They have broad shoulders, lean waists, and strong arms. They look more like male fitness models than strongman competitors.

I would say male Midlanders, Elezen, and Miqo'te already fit the very lean, kpop boy-band member look. I would say the lithe, young-boy look outnumbers any other build there is.

Personally, I just wish we had more buff men. Not bulky, not skinny kpop boy-band, but buff and tall. I'd play male Au Ra if it wasn't for their crazy amount of scales. I really hope male Viera turn out to be tall and buff, but we might not even get male Viera at all.

One thing's for sure. Whether we get male Viera or not, people are bound to be disappointed. Because even if we do get male Viera, they won't be to everyone's liking.

I don't really see them as being overly feminine and child-like. They're meant to be fierce protectors of the forest and are even more isolated than their female counterparts - not to mention more solitary, suggesting a large degree of self reliance. Realistically that'd result in a decent amount of bulk - as seen in the more muscular concept art. It'd also reflect the effects of a tribal lifestyle as we know it in the real world.

Agreed. I just want to add that the male Viera art that Lauront posted doesn't come across as effeminate to me.

I'm saying this because it seems a lot of people are assuming that male Viera = feminine men, and that's definitely not the case. There are those of us who want more muscular, masculine Viera, and those who want the more youthful, thin, kpop boy-band Viera.

So for those of you who might say, "I don't care about male Viera because I don't care to play as a feminine male," just know that there's a chance that if we do get male Viera, they might turn out to be more masculine than you think. Perhaps not hypermasculine like Roegadyn, but definitely masculine enough to come across as tough warriors.

In reality all we want is improved character creator features, more faces, more freedom about choosing eye, mouth, nose shapes, maybe sliders to certain aspects and especially changeable race characteristics as in different ears, beards, horns, body hair...
I think after Viera, it is time to open a Show your support thread to improve the CC and also rework old races...
But for now patience. :/

it is the next step just to improve the CC
more face option,add some of the face exclusive options to others etc etc

Since you lorewise can't tell the difference between a female or male viera until they hit puperty I imagine they're elegant, ballet dancer-ish with a slender physique. You know, amano-looking pretty men, players could have an option to have height and face options that enable them to look sexy or cute according to the players wish? Just because you can't tell the difference when they're children, doesn't necessarily mean that stays the case for adults. The closest in-game comparison is Au Ra, since we've seen Xaela children, and there's not much difference in build between boys and girls because they're all using the same child model regardless of gender.

And I took inspirations from fashion model contouring (and a bit of JJBA tbh @@) and birds of paradise, where the males are naturally more flashy than the females. And in a society where the females never really get a chance to spend time with and assess the males, what better way of sexual selection is there than being really really pretty?

I feel like it should work the opposite way. Males turn up so rarely, and presumably without warning, that there's absolutely no use for sexual selection. A male finally showed up? Take it or leave it.

If anything, it's going to be the females trying to get the male's attention. He's the one with all the choice in this setup.
