Lol, you reply everyone, you dont work or sleep? XDExcept that talking about/confirming no male viera still falls under the umbrella of "information about male viera at tokyo fanfest." It absolutely does make sense to hold off on revealing something like a genderlocked race so they can spend more time explaining the why's and cushion the backlash with even bigger reveals, such as the new 8 man raid, the full trailer, the next job of which there has been no hints etc.
The thing that doesn't make sense is if they just needed more work he could have and would have said so, he has never had any problem in the past (and even at that very same fanfest) telling the players they can't show something because it's not quite ready yet.
He has shown an incredible reluctance to even state they're coming which is very telling, only avoiding the questions or copping out and deferring to the next fanfest.
Still thin we will get rev or a new race. What is kinda odd is that blufever never said anything about locked race, so male is not totally off.
Rev is about as likely as me playing Au Ra or Viera. Very unlikely, especially as they're less popular than FFXIV's beastmen and not as well known compared to FFVIII's Shumi (since you actually fight one, whereas Rev in FFXII... there's what, only two in the entire game?).

Rev does seem unlikely but a possibility if this lion race is completely separate from the Viera.
What I don't understand is if they were going to add in a male-only race then why not add the male-only race that they actually showed in FF12? The Garif? Just like the Viera, the Garif had a tribe which showed only one sex but they still spoke of their females living in another tribe - which led people to think that Viera and Garif were the same.
And of course, an argument here for why Viera males weren't added - Garif females weren't added either but we know they exist.
'This race of large-framed, well-muscled humanoids have bodies covered in thick fur.
The Garif adorn themselves simply with ornaments of stone and bone, preferring natural objects over those crafted or otherwise unchanged from their original form. The one exception is their masks: each is unique, and is worn for the duration of the owner's life.
The Garif worship magicite as a sacred substance, and possess deep cultural knowledge of the stones.'
We know they go out on adventures; you can see them doing this in FF12. If the issue is with the mask then it makes perfect sense for one who has left their clan and no longer worships the 'stones' - which are crystals btw - to remove their mask.
Furthermore; we don't know what they look like without their masks. Only that they are tall, muscular, have body fur, have pointed elf like ears and are hunched over a little - but this is likely due to the weight of the bone mask.
Plot twist: Rev are male Viera. :ORev is about as likely as me playing Au Ra or Viera. Very unlikely, especially as they're less popular than FFXIV's beastmen and not as well known compared to FFVIII's Shumi (since you actually fight one, whereas Rev in FFXII... there's what, only two in the entire game?).
Rev = Ver
Ver = V(i)er(a)
Edit: Joke aside, after checking on the lore we got from the dreaming Dramaturge (aka Matsuno's "wonderful" text as Yoshi mentioned), I doubt Rev or Garif are male viera.
If young female/male Viera look the same til the age of 13, male Viera would need to mutate most likely to look like Rev or the Garif. I doubt a cute bunny child with maybe tiny/no ears can grow into a cat-like race. Also lets not forget the proportions of the ears.

Do you hate me, why, why, why do you do this to me?
Lol. It scares because Rev is part of the tactics universe that we're going to "sort of" visit soon, so it adds a bit of weight to it.. But if they were going to add a beasty race and they skip Ronso for a naked cat face (with a baby mane), I will feel so trolled lol. (Doesn't have to be Ronso but we all know it's supposed to be a lion like race according to the leak, so Rev, Ronso, etc).
