And I'm sure you can find people old enough who remember paying cents to the dollar of any example of what I've given, if not outright getting in for free.

I'm sure there's people on these very forums who remember gasoline being under 50 cents to the gallon and possibly less.

All your example presented was that times change. What's your point?

The software industry used to call this sort of nickel and diming “crippleware” and it was considered very distasteful. Now, we’ve entered a new era where there is a desire to be able to pay extra for extras. That’s fine and so far as the content is truly “extra” and not, at least in part, a replacement for what players expected to receive as part of the package, you don’t see too much resistance. But when things that used to be earned as ingame rewards (say, inventory space expansion) are now being monetized at massively inflated rates (a few kB of storage, that can only be used to hold the very select data set of inventory items in an online game, for $1/mo?), some people are going to call that for what it is. It’s not automatically jealousy or complaining about being unable to afford it or any of that nonsense. Some of us just find it ugly.
There's plenty of content available in game than mog station. There's somewhere around 108 (correct me if wrong) mounts in the game, of those 108 there's like 10 unique mount models on the mog-station excluding seasonal mounts and the White Devil and Red Baron (which are reskins).

As to prior items now being monetized. This is going to be an opinion piece.

I would rather they do it as they are. This grants additional funding so that we get new seasonal events every year with new items as a reward instead of rehashing the same rewards and events. Sure they could add them to a vendor and be done with it. But at what cost? Would we then see WoW-esque holiday events wherein they remain static year after year after year after year after year with minimal changes (if any changes at all) to the rewards given or the event.

    Nahl, I'll pass on that.
