It isn't a small number of people playing this game that have a disposable income. It's also completely subjective as to what is a little or a lot of cash to different people. Not only because this game attracts people from completely different countries and economies...but also different wages.

Stop trying to guilt trip and harass people for choosing to spend their hard earned cash on something that they enjoy.
No one is trying to guilt anyone and no one is feeling jealous. The fact is that they are going a bit overboard with the cash shop. The fact they put two emotes worth $7USD on Christmas out of all days is just..insulting. If anyone else did this, there would be an uproar but for some reason, this game gets a pass. Do not get it wrong, I love the game and I have bought things from the cash shop as well but there comes a time where you need to look and think that maybe this is getting a little out of hand.

Yes a business is a business and I do not fault them for thinking as such, what I do find an issue is most customers have started to think like a business/shareholders and less as customers. Businesses will always be trying to inch their way towards the maximum amount of profit for the least amount of work. That's fine and all but its generally kept in check by customers who in reverse try and get the most amount of effort for the lowest price possible. These 2 forces should be bringing a happy medium and not something in favor of one or the other and when we consider FFXIV's history post 2.0 what once started as a happy medium has now started with a tilt into SE's side. They're going to keep inching as much as they can to maximize their profit as things like these animations cost them little to nothing to make when you consider the grand scheme of things, I mean why do you think they focus heavily on Gachas? It makes a lot of money for the least amount of effort, hell they make more money than XIV ever will.

Nearly everything in the mogstation is stuff that we already have had a chance to get in game.

So yea wow 400 items, most of it old event items. Really honest argument you have there

I kinda wish you read the whole argument of how Fallout76 isn't getting the free pass on this issue but FFXIV is. Remember F76 is getting lambasted for reusing existing assets and charging massively high prices for them. Thats exactly what FFXIV does but seems to go under the radar. If anyone is being disingenuous with the argument its you as you seem to have completely ignored the comparison within the argument itself.

A majority of the prices in that Cash Shop are pretty close to FO76's prices and generally are asset flips given some of them are past event items that could be used in their reoccuring vendors and NPC sets.
Added it in for reference, please attack the whole argument and not something cherrypicked for your convenience. I ask you how is stating the actual count of 415 items in the Cash Shop dishonest? I did state they are old items that were once obtainable and even gave a valid form of return so even new players can get them. I related it to a current debacle in the gaming industry where players are rightfully protesting a cash shop that has a similar setup that we have, if not even better given that even with that game's horrible pricing they do let you earn the currency in-game albiet at a snail's pace.

They are going to far. It's bad enough that they put past holiday event items up for cash a year later. It's a real "f you" to the newer players that might like the old glam items.
That has nothing to do with this thread. What you are speaking about is personal choice. There is no reason you actually need to have that much storage space unless you're sole purpose in game is to make money.
If its for fc purposes they should let you use the gc storage. Not to mention they can send you mats in mail for crafts.

And if its because you craft for top tier raid group well they are probably paying you real cash for your retainer space anyway.

That they put up something to sell on Christmas is...insulting? Why would I be in an uproar because SE, or any business for that matter, decided to sell me something on Christmas? And an emote of all things.

What are you even talking about? Seasonal items that can never be received if you missed an event being available for purchase isn't an example of "reused assets".
Neither is us getting regional exclusives the community begged for, and I see people begging for more npc outfits being added in for us, not people arguing against it.

This is literally one of the least offensive cash shops in the industry and there's far too much ungratefulness going around.

There's certainly a few oddities on show, but to demonize it like some do is ridiculous.

Comparing it to fallout76 makes zero sense. People are mad because the game is a broken buggy mess and they are rightly angered seeing them put a cash shop in when the game is in such a state.

There's years of free stuff you can get in mogstation if you unfortunately missed out. You'd prefer that being unobtainable? Obtained for no effort? What? Where's your alternative? Where's the validity in your comparisons?

Personally I wish they would take it a step further and allow players to buy crystal using ingame gil or simply copy the wow system that allows players to buy sub token sell it on the AH and then allow the person who bought it off the AH to either use that money to buy a sub or cash shop items.

Would be nice to be able to spend the gil I have on something that I want.

A sub and box price is not "free."

GW2, a free to play game with two paid expansions and free regular content updates (provided you log in during the release being relevant) has no problem bringing back old in-game rewards as well as adding new event content and allowing older event content to be replayed year after year. On top of that almost everything in their cash shop is available for purchase with in-game currency.
