We all have our opinions, much like you do in this post. We don't have to agree with each other, but we are certainly free to give our 2 cents. I've stated mine on this subject in this thread and a good number of others prior. It remains unchanged. People don't like it? That's fine. That's their right. I'm certainly not insulting anyone over it.

And yes, I know. "Other games do it worse doesn't mean this is okay" but to me, it's fine. I'm not limited in how often I can play, or what I can do. I don't have to buy additional leves or chances to run dungeons, I'm not stuck at 50% less xp until I buy a boost, I won't get an auto-skip UCoB if I drop $50. I can just get more fun/cute things. Gone are the days of "all cool stuff is in game" and I've accepted that, knowing that nothing is going to turn back time, it'll just close games down instead. I buy a lot of what goes onto the mog station, and I intend to continue to do so.

And that's why you can't exactly blame the folks who complain because while I'm sure some of them still spend on the mog station, it's the people who don't see a problem with the store and don't intend to stop paying just because other folks get up at arms that are keeping it running.
I completely agree with you but sadly this doesn't change the fact that their focus on the cash shop is over the top and there's far too many players being fine with buy stuff from the cash shop, which why i said "stop buying or stop complaining".

The shop per se is fine by me too: I only got a few costumes and mounts (the maid one was from the promotion instead) and that's okay. I guess. There are hundreds of thousands of trillions of billions of millions of possible methods to make the shop better, they choose the worse and kept at it, cool for the consistency but not cool when I keep listening to people complaining that "the shop is getting out of hand" when, in the literal sense of the word, they asked for it.

Yeah, 5/10 of the community might not care about it but SE cares about the other 5/10 that spend and they're making sure to capitalize on it.

PS: Please don't give them ideas: we are (almost) forced to buy a level skip due to the atrociously bad queues of Castrum and Praetorium and we already are forced to buy - sorry, rent - additional space for retainers I doubt they would have such a dilemma adding boosts for anything.

I'll reiterate what I have iterated in the past.

Just because you paid fees to get into the theme park; parking fee and admission fee (box/unit price and sub fee), does not mean that there won't be other costs inside the park (the game). Typically there's costs for food and drink, mini-games, gifts/souvenirs (mog shop items).

It really is not that big of a deal that you make it out to be considering there's plenty of businesses that operate on this model:

    Disney World
    Disney Land
    Universal Studios
______________ (insert name of whatever theme/amusement/roller coaster park near you)
______________ (insert name of whatever golf courses near you)
Sam's Club, Costco, BJ's, _______ (any other bulk seller clubs that require membership)

Or any other business that charges you at the door and also has other fees inside. You don't like it, then don't partake in the optional services, but at the same time don't vilify/demonize people that choose to. This model isn't going to go away.

However, if you want to make a point that the asking price for some of the items is a bit exorbitant, that's fair and a fair point.

You are 100% correct. That doesn't mean that people want to agree with this approach though. Guess some of us "old timers" want to fight it tooth and nail. I've bought some things on the Mogstation. It's not that I don't use it. There's just some things that seem rather unnecessary at this point like paid storage. A few past event items being obtainable in game wouldn't hurt either. Not all of them, just a few here and there. Maybe add a 2 seater mount that doesn't take ages to get in game as well.

That's funny, I don't remember paying any additional fees in Final Fantasy XI Land. Wanted something? All you had to do was quest/grind/pay gil. Oh how I loved the days when past holiday events you missed could just be bought at a vendor for gil.

Did Disney enter an existing industry that had an established norm of providing these food, drink, and souveneir items as part of admission and then say “hey wait a minute, couldn’t we just hold it back and then charge for it instead?”

The software industry used to call this sort of nickel and diming “crippleware” and it was considered very distasteful. Now, we’ve entered a new era where there is a desire to be able to pay extra for extras. That’s fine and so far as the content is truly “extra” and not, at least in part, a replacement for what players expected to receive as part of the package, you don’t see too much resistance. But when things that used to be earned as ingame rewards (say, inventory space expansion) are now being monetized at massively inflated rates (a few kB of storage, that can only be used to hold the very select data set of inventory items in an online game, for $1/mo?), some people are going to call that for what it is. It’s not automatically jealousy or complaining about being unable to afford it or any of that nonsense. Some of us just find it ugly.

And I'm sure you can find people old enough who remember paying cents to the dollar of any example of what I've given, if not outright getting in for free.

I'm sure there's people on these very forums who remember gasoline being under 50 cents to the gallon and possibly less.

All your example presented was that times change. What's your point?

There's plenty of content available in game than mog station. There's somewhere around 108 (correct me if wrong) mounts in the game, of those 108 there's like 10 unique mount models on the mog-station excluding seasonal mounts and the White Devil and Red Baron (which are reskins).

As to prior items now being monetized. This is going to be an opinion piece.

I would rather they do it as they are. This grants additional funding so that we get new seasonal events every year with new items as a reward instead of rehashing the same rewards and events. Sure they could add them to a vendor and be done with it. But at what cost? Would we then see WoW-esque holiday events wherein they remain static year after year after year after year after year with minimal changes (if any changes at all) to the rewards given or the event.

    Nahl, I'll pass on that.

Seeing how many people buy those things I would say go SE go.
People are begging to get dry milked.
What worries me though is the lack of cool rewards from quests and events.
Seems more and more cool things go to Mog Station while the game quests give less and less.

Has it gone too far though? They literally do this for almost every emote that comes out--that isn't a seasonal one from the past--and they all come priced at 7$USD.

Call me when they put some up for 12 dollars or something. Then we can say it's gone too far because it'll actually be different this time.

I don't think anyone is making the case that we don't have a good amount of rewards in the game but if we're going off that basis the number of glamours in of itself have been going down for crafter's with each subsequent patch since the start of 2.0 all the way to the current patch. Anyways the actual argument here is the overall message being sent to SE on how much they can overstep with the Cash Shop at hand. You can throw out your same "entitlement" argument all you want but in the end its really not a true argument in this case when you consider the majority of the playerbase, there could be some outliers in this, pay to not only own the game but to keep playing it on a monthly basis. Yes players are "entitled" to speak their opinion or even make remarks about a game that seems to go under the radar in this age where players are getting fed up with micro-transactions.

So why does FFXIV get a pass while others dont? People go out of their way to defend recent additions as "Oh they're from China/Korea" while at the same time damn those same regions for their practices by saying "At least we don't follow their model" while ignoring the fact that we're already in the Kiddie-Pool territory of those models. Fanfest mount already maxes out its speed regardless of you owning the map boosts in the area and lets not forget the jump potions. One for classes and the other to profit over an existing issue of people falling off the wayside on a starting MSQ that is mostly filler for the first half of 2.X. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile is the way the saying goes and so far it seems to be the case with the Cash Shop. 400+ items counting the bundles is not something exactly small in the scale of Cash Shops and when you consider the recent debacle with Fallout76 that is getting flak about reusing assets and selling them for egregious prices you need to wonder why this cash shop reallllly isn't getting the same attention. A majority of the prices in that Cash Shop are pretty close to FO76's prices and generally are asset flips given some of them are past event items that could be used in their reoccuring vendors and NPC sets. Still I guess till they add lootboxes nothing will be said but I fear even if that day ever did come, which it hopefully won't given how that system clashes with an MMO, I feel that like a frog in a pot of water they would have not noticed the slowly increasing steps they have taken with the cash shop.
