Oh my god in Ranked Feast. We'll literally be trying to burn down the enemy healer for 2 minutes and he'll be at full HP. AND THE SHIELDS!!! I absolutely detest healer shields. Even with coordination with my team (I play bard usually so I silence stuff) the healer will still be alive. Stun, silence directly after, nope, no effect cause the healer will be back at 100% HP in half a second. Astrologian mobility is also a little annoying. If people can stay focused long enough healers can be singled out and downed easily. However, in the heat of things people just sorta...shoot anything that moves. With healers on the opposing teams it's a waste of time and energy if they can't be dropped in a reasonable time frame.
Personally I love soft-targeting, whereby if you aren't controlling the player camera, you have the option of auto-facing your target if it's within range (+ margin) to make use of said target, and it may even try to maneuver around unintended enemies somewhat.
I think SE needs to accept that PVP will be a niche content in this game and not try to push it towards esports..Not only does their reward structure with exclusive timed rewards mean that a lot of people will miss out on it and might just not try it from the start but that it can also create a toxic behaviour if people dont play well. They should just create some new pvp armor that looks nice or some long time events like Garo that people can do but always with prices that you can get with wolfs marks.
In the end it will always remain small in this game and no amount of rewards will ever change that imo. (And I do get a bit annoyed at how much is put behind this. Why do hair styles needs to be there?)
+1 for Garo event, it's what got me into PvP after all. The number of wins you needed for the mounts were low enough to make them seem easily obtainable, unlike the normal 100 wins one. (while they are intended to keep the mode running long time, people that want them will just poopsock the mode before it might die. I'm looking at you Rival Wings) Also the gear was actually usable in PvE as catch-up gear or for alt classes.
Also there needs to be PvP novice hall, that explains you how to burst/focus target, the strats of each frontlines mode, how to use the different RW mechs ect. The fact that PvP just get's thrown at you without real explanation ingame is what kept me from trying it out before the Garo event.
The devs need to care about pvp for pvp to be successful.
Pvp is as a successful as how much of a world on its own it is. It needs proper GC rivalry, events on the regular, gear with relevant pvp stats and even materia, to name a few examples.. Basically, pvp needs to be a thing that a player can fully live in the same way you can if you choose only to craft/gather or pve.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
Well, it had gear with relevant PvP stats. It was called "Morale". When the first frontline got implemented, gear got synced however, making it a pointless stat in there. That was a result of the developers noticing that people barely played PvP and there was wintrading galore to farm XP and Marks in the dead queues.
It also had materia back in the days - actual PvP materia, such as stun resistance, sleep resistance etc. Got disabled with the sync and later removed entirely.
PvP in this game has come a long way and tried a great many things. At this point, I think it's even free to play, what with the free trial being extended to level 30 and PvP being available at 30. The issue is that none of these supporting systems can salvage bad gameplay.
One of the things I hated most about PvP in this compared to other MMOs is that healers do way too much damage for how durable they are, to the point where pretty much no class can 1v1 them and actually win in a prolonged fight. Most MMOs tend to give them little to no offensive ability specifically to avoid this issue.
Aside from the myriad balance issues, having bots regularly showing up on teams and basically being dead weight due to being unable to pursue objectives in a productive manner (IE, they'll keep running to and suiciding on a heavily defended point and feeding the opposing team kills if their script dictates it as the most convenient one to target next) is frustrating as heck.

I suppose that BDO has probably a similar system as BNS. Both systems have their pros and consTry playing BDO at least for a month. You'll understand what i'm talking about.
I think if they can at least make a Eureka type Instance where there is no queue times for any class, once inside it's kinda like the Frontlines PVP but teams are divided by servers, add a little siege mechanics from GW2 or Campaign mechanics from FFXI. Put relevant gear equivalent to a relic behind it as a reward or old dyeable raid gear, and people might play it.
I'd like to see the dev team actually take PVP feedback into consideration and give us updates on what exactly they are planning for it in the months/years ahead. Right now, it feels like EVERYONE else is represented in updates but PVP feels like the mushrooms of the XIV world.
- More perform updates? Yeah! We added drums and guitars!
- More hairstyles/glamours? No problem! Here's what we're doing!
- More roleplaying features? Sure thing! This is what we have planned!
- PVP? *crickets* ....
"We want bunny suits for guys!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Ishgard housing!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Viera!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Cloud's motorcycle!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Blue Mage!"-- OK! ✅
"We want the ability to earn past Feast rewards!" - HAHA no that's sacred.
