I preferred PvP when the Garo event was live. It was a lot more fun to work toward completing sets than not. I would appreciate there being more events like that one or something in general to work towards.

For context, please check the date I joined the forums.
I also had around 10k posts in the alpha/beta forums of ARR as the self-proclaimed emperor of general discussion.
I also was in the sort-of not-really forums for 1.0 alpha/beta.
I have never queued for PVP in any phase of this game's life.
This is not because I dislike PVP, in fact I love it. I was a K-BDO player that went on to play in the US at launch and was an absolute monster. I love seiges, open world pvp, ganking, and yes-- even instanced teamstyle pvp.
I have played on a PVP server on every single MMO I've had the option to do so in, all the way back to Dark Age of Camelot. I was that typical WoW MALE HUMAN WARRIOR boring PVP ALL DAY player on Azgalor in Vanilla.
I have never even zoned into PVP in FFXIV. I have no intention of zoning into any PVP content in this game, and I have no idea why.
It's not because FFXIV PVP is good or bad or in between, it's just a void. I feel no gravity at all. Inexplicably I'm not attracted to it at all, but I'm also not repelled by it.

The only time I ever did PvP in a hardcore fashion was when the Garo event was implemented. I wanted that Raigo mount really, REALLY bad and basically no lifed PvP for a week straight. Thankfully I managed to get it, along with the other 2 mounts and all the gear sets I wanted, but I'd be content if they never did something like this again. It was like the Yokai event...painful. So painful. But it wasn't even the fault of the system in this particular case: it was the people that (for the most part) made it way harder than it needed to be. Heck, they still do. I'm fine if they keep adding new glamours, maybe the occasional mount purchasable with marks...but I don't think there's much they can do to make PvP "good" in this game. It's PvE oriented and I believe the focus should stay there.
I liked the pvp when the jobs had all their ability.
It's not fun now and the healers are annoying, the natural way to deal with healers in most pvp situations is to CC them, you can't do that when there's no cc. It's just completely awful, if they went back to how it was I would pvp more.
If people can stay focused long enough healers can be singled out and downed easily. However, in the heat of things people just sorta...shoot anything that moves. With healers on the opposing teams it's a waste of time and energy if they can't be dropped in a reasonable time frame.I liked the pvp when the jobs had all their ability.

You still need a decent amount of people and it still takes awhile for the healers to go down, it just shouldn't be that way. I don't think healers should be burned down easily but it's easier to balance it all when your jobs have cc to help deal with it.If people can stay focused long enough healers can be singled out and downed easily. True, very true.
Add in a ton of worthwhile rewards that more than a 100 people per server can work towards if you want to boost participation. Mounts, hairs, dyes, glamour, housing items, minions, ect. There must be something for everyone that everyone can attain if they work for it.
Implying rewards actually mean pvp is succesful. A good mode in any game can stand up on it's own. Rewards are a bonus. XIV's pvp fails at that tremendously hard.
Yes, but you're not going to fix PvP/get people to play without a complete overhaul or adding a ton of stuff they want. Adding stuff gives a boost now. Overhauling it probably won't happen outside the next expansion or beyond that. Rewards are better than nothing imo.
