The thing is, people could lie and say they've done the fight and how could you tell? The 1.0 people who have the earrings can honestly say that they beat an exceptionally hard fight during those times and be proud of that. No one can take that self pride away from you ever. No one.
The people with the earrings now can only say that they did a 15 minute event of pressing [X] over and over. Myself included probably if I feel like actually doing the event that is.
So while self-pride may be there, your trophy in the end showcasing your achievement is now entirely worthless.

It's only worthless if you deem it worthless yourself and that it has no value. The same thing can be said for time as well. In order for something to lose credibility or value to you, you have to let it first.
If you let the idea of other people having the earrings bother you and then make yourself believe that all of the time you spent in 1.0 was for nothing because of that statement, then...did those earrings ever really have as much stock and value as you claimed it did in the first place if you can just drop their value from 100 to 0 in an instant?

I don't even own the earrings my friend. It's only worthless if you deem it worthless yourself and that it has no value. The same thing can be said for time as well. In order for something to lose credibility or value to you, you have to let it first.

But the post above mine regarding the Airman's Coin is exactly what people are trying to say.

Well, I'm just speaking in general terms, honestly. Regarding the Airman's Coin, it's a legitimate argument, and there are parts of it that I do agree with. I'm just part of the people who also doesn't allow, the concept at least, of others to somehow invalidate the work that I've done towards something simply because I took the harder road than they did.
Like for Ixion for example, I camped him upon SB's first release when it was harder and much more crazy to get the gold medals that dropped more tokens between the severe lag and overload on the instance servers...I camped him to insane hours too because I wanted the mount so badly. Now, it's much easier to get Ixion than before since they upped the amount of horns that drop when you get gold, silver, or bronze.
The people who get Ixion now, who brag about it in the Reach of how they farmed him for a week straight as of this patch? They will never be able to invalidate the amount of work and sanity I put into getting that mount. Ever. They'll never invalidate the month or so it took me to get him.
Because I simply won't let them, that's why.

Seeing someone with those earrings always invoked some respect for them as a skilled player.
It's something you earn with your skill. Much akin to Ultimate weapons.
Now if they handed out Ultimate weapons to everyone...

But you can't compare the two seeing as one doesn't exist anymore and the other is clearly still alive and kicking. By that fact alone they are not in the same ballpark, not even on the same planet. 1.0 is dead and gone for at least 5 years, those earrings hold no value whatso ever. You can't compare them to UwU weapons as those are still alive. Now you'll have a point if 5 years from NOW uwu was dead and you could no longer do it.. THEN you can compare them. But as it stands now, comparing them now is just trying to scare people for no reason.

I have to agree. It's like stolen valor. How can you prove you cleared it and didn't just get them from this year's anniversary event?
