Physick vs Drain as SMN.

Attack Magic Potency 2749
Healing Magic Potency 231
Critical Hit 1904

Drain cast time 2.35s
Physick cast time 1.88s

Both cost 600 mp to cast.

vs

Level 70 Training Dummy

on average drain healed me for 1700 - 2300 hp per casting not including crits which would jump up to about 3600 or a little more at times. This is without a summoned pet like Garuda applying contagion on anything.

on average Physick healed me for 645 to 647, not including crits which would scale up to about 1014.

So in the 5.10s I could cast two drains for emergency healing against a likely equally leveled target I could heal 3400 to 4600 hp, or more if I crit which could potentially jump up to 7200 if both were crits?

vs

Physick's 1935 healing after 5.64s.. So, why not just change Physick to Drain?
There are numerous reasons why they haven't changed Physick to Drain.

Drain was added in Stormblood for roles actions (which means you would than take it away from black mages, which is slightly useful to them for self survival), you'd have more of an argument for making it similar to drain and just giving it a name.

Lorewise it wouldn't make sense... you learn to heal yourself and than it changes to an ability where you you heal yourself from something else (not to mention is an attack now versus non attack).

Very little reason to waste time finding a way to recode said ability because it's an arcanist ability not a summoner one.

Again, with everything, and I do mean everything that exists in this game that effects balance I'm surprised folks are still in here when all you have to o if you find the ability useless is just take it off your hot bar.
