Does it honestly matter? If these guys were getting paid real money I would kinda understand...but they're being a company real life money, to exploit something they were too lazy to address but knew was in the game...just a huge meh.

and the results of the last maintenance are
- The Adventurer Squadron action "Execute Limit Break" could be used outside of squadron content.

Oh, so that's why people are expecting me to do 5,5k dps in 290 stuff XD
More seriously it is a good thing i did lately concentrate on solo leveling my fighting and crafting jobs, and didn't do much instanced content except for the valention one. I would so hate getting banned because some people in my group would use this exploit without telling the others what is going on.
They'd be hard pressed to justify bans when they knew about it for months and didn't address it. That's the thing. While the line between "exploit" and "creative use of game mechanics" is fuzzy, if you know about a problem and don't address it for a couple months (until it blows up on reddit), what message are you sending during those months?
More likely you see slaps on the wrist and not much else. Now, about that rampant botting problem...

On the other hand, this is exactly what they did with the Salvage dupes too. It had been used for over a year before they proceeded with the mass bannings. I'd much prefer another wave of those than sending out the message that exploits can be freely used if not fixed right away. Of course, the ideal situation would be to both fix the issue and punish the players involved asap.
People won't get banned for this, too many factors to consider and the PR blowout would be way too much. Considering people who might have jump potted or etc might of thought it was just a variation of LB.((wishing SE would explore making LB buffs)) but yeah glad it was fix but nothing will happen..... now how bout them bots?![]()

And bans aren't the only way to address it. Previously they've just stripped gear and achievements relating to logs where it was used. That sends a much better message, not just to the people abusing things, but just as importantly to those that don't: You shouldn't have to feel pressured to use an exploit or fall behind because those that do will end up losing what they gained from it.They'd be hard pressed to justify bans when they knew about it for months and didn't address it. Having an unpatched exploit for a year doesn't give you the moral to start ban hammers just because a ToS says this or that. If anything SE should ban some interns for this first then should think about banning players.
Ofc they won't do such a thing but it's beyond ridiculous to leave such exploits for such a long time unfixed.
Most of the blame are on them.
It's SE's fault for not fixing this as soon as possible (although from my understanding they may have not been aware that the ability was possible to use with the macro system without any 3rd parties until now), so the blame for its existance is on SE, but the blame for its use is 100% on players for choosing to use this exploit, or not reporting its use right away when they've seen it.
They'll disable them and leave the botters be?
What else do you expect? Bots have been around longer than the exploit. The message you send by keeping them around is that the policy is the same as for other third party apps like parsers:"Don't tell and you're fine."
Personally, I'd go through the logs to see who used the ability outside of the intended content, make a brief check whether the use was trivial or not and then issue warnings to those who used it in trivial content and temp ban those who used it in non-trivial content.
And I'd go for a similar approach for bots. Used a bot to quietly gather your own materials without selling them? Temp ban or warning, depending on how long they did it. Selling materials materials/crafts en masse or botting in PvP? Perma.
But that's just me. Rule violations generally should be punished depending on the severity of the damage done.
