if each attack gives you a second or two to react, a lot of people will fail this. If you add the requirement to pattern match in that one to two seconds, or add more conditions it increases. people can only process so much information quickly, so to do it random you need to slow the reaction and pattern matching down so players can watch and react. You want random elements so players are using judgment instead of reacting, but a lot of the reaction based gameplay makes it very hard to do so. If one person screws up their positioning, the only one who often can react is the healer if its a non-fatal attack; many times you can't, if just because they robbed you of control! (ice floor, walling people off to fight adds)

There's a thread in the Dungeon forums complaining about Hashmal complaining about basically the same things people complained about with Shinryu. So are you saying Hashmal is a huge jump compared to Shinryu?
You'd have to compare him to Ozma, and he's a decent jump compared to that.

Big issue with him is obscured mechanics and a lot of one-hit attacks, even at ilvl340. His rush is just a form of calofistieri's haircut attack, but designed to oneshot anyone but the tank until ilvl 360 or something, with a much harder tell. He feels like he is a prototype to test how casual players can deal with telegraphs being removed entirely and players forced to watch the boss's attacks directly, for almost an entire fight. Its hilarious in a way because you get the sense they realized he was too tough, and more or less nerfed every single following boss to deal with it.

The whole casual SB content from a game design sense is very teaching heavy.. It's obvious every encounter is there to teach you stuff by sheer repetition rather than feeling like organic difficulty. Susano hard is there to teach you to stack, scatter, and pop gaols, Lakshimi to drop aoes and use gimmicks. Rab's bosses teach the alliance to split adds and know when to rush to your marker, with the sub lessons being stuff like recognize nontelegraphed mechanics, stick to the boss, etc. Shinryu is just an endurance test to get you to recognize a lot more mechanics than you are used to, to try and get you ready for ex level content. I don't know what people think making it harder will do.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm playing the same game as the people who claim they see "elitist behavior" and "parser obssession" everywhere.

I know in the end it's all anecdoctal evidence, but I've been playing this game for over 3 years (and have been raiding since FCoB) and I've only seen people getting harassed over DPS numbers once - this coming from someone who joins all sorties of parties (parse runs, learning, clear and even parties clearly labeled as trap). I had parse runs while I was doing over 4-5 times the DPS of my co-healer (with similar HPS) and yet no one would say anything, or kick them for that matter.

Sometimes I join clear parties for fun, and very often I see other people who already cleared joining the fight just to help out. I remember back in Creator, my first A12S clear (when cross server PF didn't exist) had help of several top tier players who had absolutely no obligation to be there, yet they stayed wiping with us for several hours until we got the clear. Yet when you look at these forums, you'd think any player who wants to try and learn encounters/get into raiding have to do it with friends or they will be bullied, harassed and called names.

My suggestion is: give the raiding community a shot. If you are too nervous to join someone's party, make your own and set your expectations. There's much less elitism around than you'd think.

Thank you. I too have been playing since launch and have yet to see anyone being harassed over numbers. I also don't regards a "hey your dps is low, try to step it up a bit" as harassment.
It would be nice, if people on the forums could stop spreading panic, maybe more new players would be interested in giving raiding a shot then.

    THANK YOU!

I've been reading this and rolling my eyes the entire time, so I'm glad to see someone speak a bit more reasonably.

People treat even the smallest amount of difficulty like an allergy in this game, or self-restrict themselves then point fingers at the "elitists" for keeping them out of content. OR refuse to make the effort to learn/prepare, or even perform their job/role to an acceptable level given the content, then again blame others or blame the content itself. It's ridiculous.

i find people who say git gud never really faced difficult content in the first place; it was easy for them, and they can't get how it isn't easy for everyone else. When you actually have hard content, you're too worried with getting it done rather than obsessing over others, and you know how frustrating it is for you, so the last thing you want to do is force others to do it. It took all my focus and concentration to heal 3.0 pvp, for example; wtf would i rage about others not being good at it, when it was so frustrating and wearying? Its people who go in, and ace it, and then ace it so much they can farm the "hard" content nonstop for hours, that always say git gud, but that doesn't seem hard to me.

You find nothing but what you want to find, Riyah. I don't say git gud because things are easy for me: I say git gud because even a loser like me can struggle with and learn a fight and conquer it.

Why do people even say get good like that?

As someone that "converted" from casual content to "extreme-primal-addict/savagePUG" over the course of SB, I wish I could know why people give up so easily. I've become addicted to the higher difficulty despite the time consuming learning curve. I know o1s and o2s are highly regarded as "the easiest savage ever" but it really worked as confidence boost and I've been farming shinryu ex for that doggo ever since. Something happened in 4.0-4.2 that made me realize just how boring the normal content is, it's simply not rewarding at all to me anymore.

With 4.2 on the horizon, I'm so hyped to smash my face against the new ex Primal, grab that weapon, and smash my face against that god**** train.
