Nothing wrong with Holy. Unless the mobs aren't dying fast enough. I usually throw up my HoTs, hit them with an Aero III to start and if I haven't used Presence of Mind yet for the healing and don't anticipate needing it on the next pull, I pop it and spam Holy. That initial stun is long enough that the HoTs should top the tank back up and let you get your damage off for a while. The only time I really need to stop is when that first HoT falls off and I need to start using Cure and Cure II procs. By then most everything is about to die anyways.

In older areas there is nothing wrong as long as you have a competent team. In the newer areas 70 yeah some WHM should really hold back a bit when positioning and learn to manage their MP. Don't get me wrong some players are great and I really give them credit however for the most part...they should really focusing on just healing as well as learn not to heal during pulls.

I'd be bothered if a WHM still can't manage MP after getting to the level 70 areas. HW introduced Assize which did WONDERS for White Mage MP management, and now we get a free cast as well. It feels like each expansion brings some new blessing to the White Mage and it irks me that people aren't taking advantage of their mana management toolkit.

Yeah. There's little reason to have mana issues as a whm these days! Assize, Lucid dreaming and thin air should keep your MP in a healthy range.
As long as both the tank and the whm are decent players, there should be zero problems with a whm spamming holy even in current expert roulette content. My friend tanks while I heal and I spam holy at almost every pull and he doesn't do small pulls. As long as you know how to balance it and when you should or shouldnt be spamming it then everything will be ok. The key is knowing when you need to switch your efforts from DPS to healing. If you're unsure or uncomfortable but want to try DPSing, then my advice is to stop DPSing and instead heal if your tank falls to 50% health, or if your mana falls below half and you have no MP regen abilities off CD. You'll eventually get a better feel for it over time.

WHM has the least trouble when it comes to MP management of the three healers. Not only do they have Assize, but they also have Thin Air. Thin Air + Prescence of Mind + Holy is absolutely amazing. Assize has an even shorter CD than it did in HW; weave it in alongside Aero III and WHM is an AOE God. Any healer at 70 shouldn't be having MP troubles unless they are having to do a lot of unnecessary raising.

AST on the other hand.... I miss Luminiferous Aether.... It was so much better than Lucid Dreaming; shorter cooldown and lasted longer extended with Celestial Opposition and unextended. I feel like I'm cheated out of mana regen if I don't extend Lucid. ;_;
