FFXIV is not Dyslexia friendly, can we at least get off "One exchange per lifetime"

You need to read the thread. The OP has stated what is is like for her to read in the game because there is no dyslexia accessibility. She has stated she can sit there for hours and have no clue what something says.

omfg, just because your dyslexia is like that doesn't mean it is like that for everyone. There are different degrees of dyslexia just like every other disability.

Not "re-exchange" just have a system like WoW where you have a timer counting down which allows you to sell the item for what you paid for it back to the vendor. It would solved all the problems and eliminate any need for a "once off item restore".

Just need to have the patience to double check you are getting the right item. I've made the mistake(with Esoterics when they were the capped tome), but I learned from it to slow down when buying items like that. Does it suck? Sure, but it's not the end of the world. Learn from the mistake, and do better checks next time. Plus, as others have mentioned, there is a pop-up that appears if it's an item not for your currently equipped class that requires you to confirm you want it by clicking the check box, then clicking purchase.

The picture is not likely showing what happened during the problem, just an illustration of what the menu looks like.Telling someone or implying their disability is manageable from looking at someone elses attempt to display how confusing it is , is very cold and cruel.

It just shows whether or not you're currently carrying one. Didn't they mention putting it on their retainer? If that's true then they could have bought it and that image would still be accurate.

90% Correct, I am shocked someone remembers. You are mostly right, it is equipped on retainer.

Snow said they accidentally bought the healing bracelet from Omega Normal, the picture shows the accessories for Omega Normal and the bracelet has not been bought. If you were going to make a fuss about this, then you would show that you did infact buy it by mistake, and not show that you do not own one. If they just tossed it, then that, to me, also seems silly as you can sell it for seals later and the other, quite nice benefit, is it can prevent you from mistakenly buying another one, since you can only have one on your person at a time, it will be impossible to buy it again.

I'm not saying buying the wrong thing isn't an issue, but when what is being said, and the picture evidence don't line up, it shows something is amiss, whether that's information that's been left out, or just lying.

Now, if they do have dyslexia, they might have bought the casting bracelet (cannot confirm/deny), mistaking it for the healing one, which means they would have the loot that they originally wanted.

How many times do I need to say I was stuck with the F**** healing BRACE!

I was buying that caster ring for BLM when I mistakenly hit the healing brace when I wanted the healing ring for my healer as well. The names are too much alike. When I contacted a gm, they will not exchange it because something I did in HW.

1. Get off the one time per lifetime item fix per account, there is no reason to be that strict in this game. 1. No gear is that valuable to warrant that, 2. it is too easy to make mistakes with how names of gear and vendors are set up, it is too easy to click on something you do not want.

In wow it gives you a 2 hour time span when stuff like this happens to exchange it back. The thing in HW would of saved me from the same headache, and this happened to me before in 2.0 as well, but I did not use the 1 trade per lifetime thing because it was not worth something like that for that item. I am really sick of trying to read names under a microscope, take a lot of time doing so, and still get it wrong with heavy penalties. I actually did meld skill speed in my blm once because of this issue and had to go remove it at bonefire place thing.

I wrote ingame suggestions before on this issue and back then when the 2.0 situation happened. Back then, I could not find someone to post for me. Now that it has happened again on another time gate item, it reminded me of this problem.

I'll say it a different way, I had 3 bolts. I bought caster because it was nice, I wanted healer ring which of course bought up the pop up. I was comparing rings and such on all the jobs and happened to be on blm when I thought of my picks. So I was going to buy the casting ring, then the healer ring. I got confused because the way the game names and lists items and bought the brace. I had no idea it was the brace till I checked it wondering why I could not quip it. I do not want the brace, the stats on it are bad, the reason the brace does not show 1 next to it is because I put it on my lv 70 whm retainer to use since that is the only way to make use of that useless brace. Maybe SE can put good stats on gear for once and not on just 1/3rd or 1/4th of the gear made?

That is what it looks like, the gear simply has a timer on it for the countdown of how long left you can exchange it. I noticed I got the wrong item within a minute when it was not going in my ring slot. This is a disability access issue, and I thought people be more considerate. I will say it again, I wanted the caster ring, I wanted the healing ring, the item forced on me that I did not want is the healing brace.

Why are people telling me I need to read some warning slower, or some name slower when it does not apply to me? Telling me I need read better when no one is taking the time to understand what I am saying?The pop up does not help in this case at all, why do people keep coming to it?

Ofc it is not shown in the top picture!it was not in my inventory, Why would I keep an item on me I do not want? Game has too much inventory issues to be carrying around useless gear. I said I put it on my 70 WHM retainer to equip because that is the only way to use it, you can't even sell it for seals which is annoying, and GMs refuse to exchange it, so it goes on retainer.

- Read the entire tooltip before buying anything. Does the materia give Skill Speed or Spell Speed? Does the item have any Mind or Int on it? Is the item for the correct slot (have the character screen open to check)? How many of this item do I already have?

- Swap to the job you want to equip the item on and compare the item with what's currently equipped.

- Read all popup windows! Seriously, this is a good habit to get into.

What the game could do to help:

- Allow returning gear bought with capped tomestones (or weekly tokens) as long as the item has 0% spiritbond.

- Color code main stats in tooltips and roles in item names. For example: Genta Bracelet of Healing, Genta Ring of Casting, Genta Bracelet of Aiming

Not not really help with healing ring vs brace, names are too much alike. You are actually repeating something I said, your advice is why I can see the difference of the crit,det,DH materias. However the skill speed and spell speed is too hard to read. The effect is too much alike, the icons are the same, and the name of them are too much alike.

Those map markers are to help me distinguish < (had to enter this word in google 6 times to get me to the word I needed) where is where. Also having 2.0 area (I say 2.0 not... whatever the 3 letters people use because they are gibberish to me) under HW section still throws me off and leads for me taking a bit of time to teleport to the right place. Looking closer I see why, it is because both the HW and 2.0 are named alike, while having the same icon next to it while being under the same teleport section. I really do not like that and hope they change mixing different expansion areas under the same listing like that.

Why do people say this over and over again? There is no pop up saying "You are buying a healing brace, not a healing ring, are you sure you want a healing brace?" The wrong job pop up has nothing to do with this situation so why do people keep bringing it up? I am not talking about buying wrong job gear, I am talking about being forced to keep healing brace when I wanted healing RING! I was close to doing the same motions in Chiramu's sketch<spell check fix, this very hard word for me, at this point.

I'm also dyslexic but I make sure to double/triple check everything I do and to read carefully with diligence to compensate for my handicap. I don't go around blaming others and expect them to cater to me.

When they do not have this:

For weekly gating items, and a once a lifetime refund on account? Yes SE should be held accountable. How come wow can have timers on gear and this one does not? The gear is not special, it will be replaced in 2 months, and the brace was outdated in 2 weeks of its release. This means there is no justification on having 1 lifetime reimbursement on the account. Also why did SE make a change to GC menu to make it more confusing? So they can make changes to make it less confusing when they did a change to make it more confusing. Again, you have no idea how long I sit there trying to read these *** names and still get it wrong? I hate it.

This is the only game I have this high degree of trouble (others it is simply not being able recall names of things well but i can recognize everything.) Here it is like they try be confusing, too much copy/paste with item names and item icons, but I guess you have to be when you are making everything outdated every 2 weeks -3 months. Same with the teleport lists, they use those crystal shapes for too much different places, and hard for me to see where to go, the memory markers is to help me recognize them but even that does not work all the time. The only thing that truly saves me is being able right click to see map off the teleport menu, otherwise I be going to the wrong places consistently.

To all those people saying "learn to read!", just because someone presented his idea poorly does not mean that the idea itself is bad. You are opposed to something that developers from others games (this feature is not exclusive to WoW) figure it out without chances of being abused, also, the more you reduce the necessity to contact the customer support the better for everyone.

The game already has buyback and probably the only reason is not extended to what Snow_Princess is asking it's due problems/limitations with the UI (while functional a lot of menus like turn in collectibles or retainers are in need of a revamp) itself.

The dark blue on black text for things like the loot from Deltascape is really difficult to read - and I have corrective lenses. I mean, look at this!

I can see how it's easy to make a mistake. They don't make it any easier with icons that look virtually identical. Raptor sinew and Persimmon leaf sushi anyone? To say nothing of the items needed for the anima relic. I get that you're on a super-tight schedule devs, and this is probably the LAST thing on your loooong list of to-dos, but it would help the players so much - even those who don't struggle with visual issues.

And I agree for a system that lets you exchange items. I think maybe the reason such a system isn't in place is because it would take time to create and there are probably millions of items that would need to be cataloged. It's not something that could realistically be done in the span of a couple months.
