I am really sick of trying to read names under a microscope, take a lot of time doing so, and still get it wrong with heavy penalties. I actually did meld skill speed in my blm once because of this issue and had to go remove it at bonefire place thing.

While I went to search to try to get people understand better I found this list. What is important with this one that stood out in why I am linking it is because the before and after thing that was listed:

For the life of me I do not know what is what and just guess, can make hunts annoying at times when I have to select something quickly, I just guess.

We are not against the idea, but there are more glarring issues with the game that need handled and this would involve a rather major recording of the game to implement. Resources vs need. we don't need this so don't waste resources doing it.

Wow has a system where:
1. when you buy something that is on our equivalent of tomestones, you get 2 hours, I think it is, to exchange it, the game does it on its own, that is what I am requesting here. If they can do it easily, it should not take "major recording" .. ? recoding? .. this doesn't look right.. I think wrong word is used... anyways...
2. When in a DF, if you get a drop, you get 2 hours to trade it to someone, should you find out they like it for an offspec or something. I traded gear before in this manner, usually they require to be on the same server but that would also be nice to have.

Yes, I've made mistakes, too (in WoW not here, so I was able to correct them without any hassle). I think a set period of time to get reimbursed wouldn't be a bad idea at all. FFXIV is rather punitive compared to other games in this respect.
While I appreciate Square cannot tailor the game to perfectly suit everybody, this is one QoL change that would potentially benefit everyone.

I have to say I found it really sad that the first comment was someone mocking the OP's disability (and even sadder that other people should 'like' it).

tip: count the letters in the name of a item if you wanna be so damn sure .. i mean "Quicktongue" = 11 "Quickarm" = 8.

Edit: hell you even get a second chance to make sure you are buying the right item as you needed to trade in the bolt.

It is time gated, it is not hard to get or obtain, but impossible to get back. If it was not for the time gate thing, I wouldn't be so annoyed.

Unfortunately, with conditions like dyslexia, that can still cause issues. From my experiences with people who have the condition, they've mentioned that the letters get jumbled up and don't make sense, so even casting/healing becomes some garbled mess. Though, usually, a coloured sheet of laminate over the text seems to work (don't know if always). Could be an idea for an accessibility option I guess? And it would make the pop-up windows plain boxes with black text and coloured background (user adjustable), as an accessibility option. If you're not using it, current UI remains.

Coloring based on job would help but.. the thing is they where both healing gear. I legitimately thought I bought the ring and kept trying to drag it to ring slot confused why it was saying "wrong slot to equip" Then I moved the cursor over the item in my bag and went F***************

Also seems people are confused what I was doing, I did want the CASTER ring, I did want the healing ring, the mistake was buying the healing BRACE and not the RING. I was on BLM as i was buying them so that pop up was expected and thought I was getting the healing ring. I was switching jobs trying to compare stats to see what one was best. I made this brace just prior in buying the mistake:

Delta normal healing brace is very bad, stat wise.

That doesn't mean I don't agree with the OP. I've made mistakes in purchasing as well due to similar naming and I don't have a learning disability, actually I read too fast...which causes its own problems. But I don't necessarily find an issue with the naming as much as maybe how they group them. I think they should highlight what you currently can equip. It's a small change and doesn't influence alot. Yes I know it tells you when you click on it you can't eqiup it but for impatient people, sometimes you just keep clicking.....As for Materia, they could definitely use a rename, but Im not expecting them to do that any time soon.

The name is not the only thing wrong with the materia, it is the name + item icon is the reason it is hard. It is the SAME ICON! there is too much copy/paste with item icons that makes other things difficult, that I do not post about because of fear of backlash like I got in this thread.

Also I do not understand why people keep bringing up the warning message. Even if I was on healer, I wanted the ring, not the brace. The caster ring was intended, it has good stats. I was trying to buy caster ring and healing ring at the same time, but because of the positions of the items, I thought I was buying healing ring, not healing brace.

I was buying that caster ring for BLM when I mistakenly hit the healing brace when I wanted the healing ring for my healer as well. The names are too much alike. When I contacted a gm, they will not exchange it because something I did in HW.

And yet I am mocked for not reading... (The edit in the first post was only putting in the bold and underline)

I've done this sort of thing a few times before, each time I accepted it as user error. Can't blame the game for this.

Haste makes waste, etc. If it's something valuable enough where you'll feel burned if you buy the wrong thing, triple check it before you buy.

At that point yes I blame the development for too much copy/paste making things confusing. All the comments talking about that pop up warning does not apply in this case, how is this not understood?

Why would there need be any limit? No one complains there needs to be a limit in wow, you buy an item, it has a timer on it about selling it back if you misclicked, why would it need limits? makes no sense. Again I feel the need to restate the irony here. People telling me read the game better or some warning when they do not read my post. I'll say it a different way, I had 3 bolts. I bought caster because it was nice, I wanted healer ring which of course bought up the pop up. I was comparing rings and such on all the jobs and happened to be on blm when I thought of my picks. So I was going to buy the casting ring, then the healer ring. I got confused because the way the game names and lists items and bought the brace. I had no idea it was the brace till I checked it wondering why I could not quip it. I do not want the brace, the stats on it are bad, the reason the brace does not show 1 next to it is because I put it on my lv 70 whm retainer to use since that is the only way to make use of that useless brace. Maybe SE can put good stats on gear for once and not on just 1/3rd or 1/4th of the gear made?

That is what it looks like, the gear simply has a timer on it for the countdown of how long left you can exchange it. I noticed I got the wrong item within a minute when it was not going in my ring slot. This is a disability access issue, and I thought people be more considerate. I will say it again, I wanted the caster ring, I wanted the healing ring, the item forced on me that I did not want is the healing brace.

Another thing that acts like a gate to me, or least a huge time waster is how these vendor items are listed. Trying to figure out where I take the gear that you need 7 gears of to get some other item .. and just UGH! too many items to deal with! I do 7 weeks of delta normal just give me the weapon of my choosing, not all this inventory and menu bloat frustrations.

No reason for this! why is there a listing for materials and material? who cares if one listing has a S at the end. I do not know where items are, this 3.x change should NEVER been done, it is confusing af. Why did this do this? why did they make it harder to find items? Sometimes it takes me 4-6 combinations of hitting different menu options to find ventures.

There is only 2 things here, why? trying to find ventures is really hard for me because of all this unnecessary menu bloat.

oh man, a suggestion to include a system that other games have that literally hurts nothing other than some weird sense of superiority that you haven't made this common mistake! How absolutely terrible.

No, get over your obstacles and stop making excuses and looking for special treatment. There's a lot of us out here in this world with roadblocks, and stories. I'm one of em, so take it from me....adapt, get stronger any way you can and stop looking for the easy way out.

It is not an excuse, I been trying to do just that since 2.0 when this happened the first time. I read things under a microscope and still happens. I am tried of being nervous on buying something and taking 10x the amount of time then people without problems because of copy/paste names and no consideration for people like me with the icons and name design while lacking the ability to trade back in case of a mistake. You wanna trade places? I welcome it.

As someone who has worked with kids with dyslexia in the past (I'm a elementary school teacher) I know some of these kids have equipments to help them reading, such as glasses, or transparent plastic sheets or whatever.

If OP is having trouble reading, maybe they would want to check on these? IIRC a student used to have green hued glasses.

How does that help though a game though? I doono what to do, I'd love easier ways to tell what things are, I'd do anything.
