I didnt see your post, but i assume you kicked the blm for casting thunder only and getting annoyed at you for trying to speed up the run? If so, I would have kicked them too. I believe vote kick should be reserved for griefers and asshats. I also tend to believe that most people I've encountered believe they're entitled to make demands of others. Some have gone as far as kicking because they see a first time bonus, slightly low dps, and job. In my opinion, its not even worth queuing the df anymore unless you have 2 friends going with you.

I totally agree with this; kicking someone for being new, an unpopular job or playing at a casual caliber in casual content is not even something that I believe is up for debate here. Its shitty and stupid and anyone who would do it is no better than that BLM griefing his party as a thundermage.

To make a long story short, we stopped the Black Mage because we were in a level 70 dungeon where his rotation consisted of only thunder spells, scathe, and drain; when asked why and if he could play the job as intended he sniped back saying we didn't know how to play our own jobs so stop worrying about his. Hence the kick. Read my posts about it. It's not that we were trying to speed the run, but rather the guy was playing counter to his job mechanics, was generally uncooperative, and had a bad attitude towards the rest of the group. No reason to carry someone with those qualities through a dungeon if we could just as easily go through it with just one or a replacement dps.

I also agree with this wholeheartedly. People shouldn't be kicked for no reason, for their job choice, or because you don't see them doing savage-grade performance output in a df roulette. That being said, there's a line to be drawn where performance is concerned. If the black Mage had said "Ohmy bad let me change that" or even "I just want to try this- for science!" (Because my fc members like to do that a lot) then that would be one thing. But having a bad attitude topped it off, and that's ultimately what led to the kick.

Yup, just like a PLD one of my FC members and I ran into when doing a leveling roulette close to a year ago. He would ONLY use Provoke to initiate a pull. When asked why he preferred that over Shield Lob, he "accidentally" said in party chat that that was why he didn't like DF. We tried saying it was fine, we were just curious. But he was having none of it(it was in the Aery the second last pull before second boss), and refused to step in and start the second boss. We ended up kicking him(the other person was his friend) and getting a replacement. The guys friend stuck it out with us, and even apologized for the tanks behaviour, because it was honestly a good group other than his outburst. Reason we kicked him: he was refusing to do anything to even progress in the dungeon.

Insisting on doing something opposite of what 2+ people in the party are asking you to do is harassment. Easily.

Now your title is a big ambiguous; there's a difference between "performing as you think" and "acting as you think". You can't legitimately kick someone for low dps (blah blah parsing is bad, don't talk about it etc). But that's different than saying "hey we're fighting 4+ mobs at once, you should be using your aoe rotation". If they're willfully using the wrong skills for the situation they're willfully making your run longer, and that's the core of what harassment is.

I keep seeing this idea pop up, so gonna bold a correction here:

You need 2 votes to kick someone, and that's counting the person initiating it. You do not need 3 people to agree to kick someone from a 4-man dungeon. Same goes for 8-mans: 4 votes needed, again including the initiator. So in 4-man, 2 people can vote no and it still goes through. In 8-man, 4 people can vote no and it still goes through.

Did you wipe..If not..You where completelly wrong IMO.Not a chance I am going to see your cause for ruining somebodies enjoyment of the game when it was not personally harming you in any way. I would never vote for it. Not a chance. Sound sot me like you guys where harrasing him actually.

The BLM was rightfully kicked. This is not the game to "Pick your path."
If BLM had given us a Lightning path then sure, but it doesn't.
So yep, the guy gets kicked. Sorry, that's definitely trolling and wasted a colossal waste of

I'd still like to know what prompted this thread by the OP. If we knew what happened, at least we could try to tell him, "Yeah you were kicked for this reason, this is how to play better." Or "Yeah you were kicked without reason. Sucks, but that's life, get up and try again." You know?

I've only kicked people for reasons other then DCing four times so far.

Two were due to a tank/healer insisting on doing the dungeon in glamour gear with no stats.

One was because of a healer deciding he wanted to do a full clear without informing the tank and started pulling extra enemies, which ended up causing a wipe. It wasn't so much that as it was the fact that he adamantly insisted that it was the tank's fault everyone died afterward that got him kicked, though.

The last was because a SCH decided they wanted to just auto-follow me and let their pet heal for the entire instance without actually being AFK. Again, it was less their initial behavior and more their reaction to me asking if they could try to pull their weight a little more that got them kicked (It was a needlessly hostile "You don't pay my sub" sort of reaction).

There's usually more involved in someone getting kicked then just playing badly, to say in the least.
