It's established in earlier AST quests that they draw power from stars that make up the constellations of their arcana. The job changing into Geomancer would be a complete 180 thematically. We can't really say for certain of anything for now.
However, one side of me thinks they may be a prelude to Job Advancements for a Job to advance to a Higher tier version of their current Job Role such as back in FF1 game where a a Black Mage can become a Black Wiazrd and Archer becoming Rangers. The Job's name changed but they become more power and access to better versions of their old skills with new skills as well.
Astro may evolve into a GEO later and have their named changed to Geomancer.
However, this is all just speculations for now.
The Devs foregoing classes entirely is a sign that they are vehemently against the old promotion systems of previous job based FFs. It seems a bit redundant to do so at this point, too.
The more I look at the Geo stuff, it really does feel like a set-up for a future. It's all too darn specific.
But I can't tell if I'm seeing something that isn't there since GEO is literally my dream job. If it were announced, I'd be thrilled. If it was also a healer, I'd probably cry.
Shoot, Kyokuho saying, "Give me a few summers..." could indicate it's going to be a 5.0 job.
Ahhh, the speculation!
I would love beastmaster/ Blue Mage, Necromancer, Dancer.
We already know necromancer exist within Eorzea, let me be one of them !
If that were to happen, my wager would be on Oracle given that it's the only other job Yoshi ever brought up when it came to Stormblood job possibilities.Going off the Geomancer, I admit I was assuming it wouldn't be but after watching the last scene it makes sence we may see Geomancer Job, at least I would welcome it. They did say they may think of adding a 3rd job once the tweaks are out of the way so who knows :3 (Though may not be Geo, may be something different entirely)
Necromancer won't work already work as the lore for necromancer set up as evil
Dancer Please, I feel the rhythm .
I share the same sentiment. It's my dream job. I agree there are too many hints and it's too specific for it not to be a job coming. The more I look at the Geo stuff, it really does feel like a set-up for a future. It's all too darn specific.

As for "Advanced Jobs" I don't think that will happen. The current class/job system is a mess. They want to remove remnants of it, not add a deeper layer in it by adding advanced jobs for current ones.
What type of weapon does Kyukuho use? From what I could tell it looked like some sort of club. Again, probably a placeholder.. I'm guessing they will use Bells to evoke the land
Heres my thoughts on next jobs:
we have a pet healer, a pet DPS, now we need a pet tank; I like the idea of heading to the heart of the Garlean magitech cities in next expansion, so having Puppetmaster as a tank role would be amazing.
We have 3 Casters, and 3 Melee, so to round out the sets of 3, we need another Range DPS; Adding a crossbow wielding Ranger job would be great for this now that BRD juggles songs a bit more than they did in 2.0

I had the same thought, but that could likely be a placeholder. It was just teased so heavily that I cannot help but feel they might do something with it.
You seem to be more familiar with the Conjurer class than I am (never played it for myself and have to admit i am not very experienced in general), so could I ask something? Is there any weapon in the Conjurer's weapon arsenal that looks like a slingshot without an elastic? That is the wand the NPC used and I was wondering if I could find it in the game. It was not quite like a Maple wand, if memory serves me right. It is a fairly short and bulky Y shaped wand/mace.
Edit: PICTURES, in his hand and at his hip (partially visible)

Geomancer weapons have traditionally been bells, but they have also used wands, maces, daggers, and staves depending on the game.
Kyo's rod is unique. It reminds me of that old wive's tail of using a wishbone shaped branch to detect water.
