Which is useless in trash situations, as what you will block is completely random.
Might be that quick medium damage punch from a tougher mob in the trash, or one of those autoattacking garlean mini spider things that hit for 600 damage.
In the latter case : Congrats, you blocked 120 damage with Sheltron.

You shouldn't have a problem with mana anymore in the first place with level 64's trait. - Nowadays you use Flash 2-3 times and then FnF + spam Total Eclipse for DPS.

As I already said but you don't seem to understand it, the purpose of shelltron if to gain MP in trashs situations. MP you can use on some clemency (to allow your healer to DPS) or just cast a few flashes (no, 2 or 3 aren't enough to hold aggro with eclipse if you have some heavy hitter in your group) and get back the MP in order to be ready for the next requiescat. Spamming total eclipse is fine but it doesn't mean you have to do only that.

Also, who seriously care about trashes in FFXIV ?

Why do you want to use Clemency to heal yourself during trash fights?! Using Clemency or Holy Spirit makes you unable to block, parry and dodge during their cast time, they also ignore possible active cooldowns like Bulwark, Awareness and Sheltron to work.

You can't be serious casting them when having 8+ mobs hitting you. With the mentioned penalty above during casts, the damage you receive outweights by far the measly 9k heal of Clemency and the 4.5k nuke of Holy Spirit for 20 Gauge. But, sure, let those 8+ mobs with 4k auto attacks get in their free damage while you cast your fancy stuff. The healers will love it.

Also, Flash costs ~480 mana, on a ~7000 MP pool you have on level 70. So you can cast it 14 times in combat, tick regeneration not included. You shouldn't have any problems with mana unless you don't utilize it well.

As a PLD who is no stranger to using Clemency, I agree with you. We don't have Requiescat just for show.
