You cannot compete with other competent dps, definitely not monks, Ninja's or Red Mages.

I hate my main since reaching lvl 70, which is a job I've been playing for years now. It feels awkward as hell to play, and LoTD takes too long to happen, which makes it seem not worth the effort. I'm ready to just unsub rather than give up DRG for another job.![]()
yes i don't know the skills level of other people or their jobs but i've been up with them all the time without any problems, and definedly never seen those magical 4,6k mnk/nin or 4,8k sam.
and if 4,4k SAM is op on dummy which is supposed to be pure dps job then how 4,1k dps on same dummy makes DRG obsolete?
I already dumped a salt mine on reddit that could have made me the richest person on earth 500 years ago.
Since I started playing this game Dragoon was my main.
When I started playing the level 60-69 Dragoon I thought the changes were amazing. It was really fun to play.
Then I reached level 70 and it hit me like a truck in the back. Suddenly Dragoon became the least fun class I ever played. This Life of the Dragon / Nastrond / Eyes mechanic makes dragoon so frustrating to play. It has a ridiculously long buildup time, it has zero reward until you reach 4 eyes and enter LotD, the reward you get is so miniscule that it feels like a really bad joke and if you lose BotD anywhere on that path you get absolutely nothing from all that buildup.
I am serious: I am not playing Dragoon anymore. Those changes are frustrating and make me want to stop playing, because it's frustrating as hell to lose dragon eyes in dungeons and in long transition phases on bosses.
Ah and on a side another thing about something people posted in this thread: I don't get what's your problem with mirage dive and its animation. I don't know, but for me the animation is absolutely no problem - in contrary: it's actually the opposite of a problem, because at least for me mirage dive interrupts all other skill animations and I can click it the instant I use any GCD and after MD i have like 1,5 seconds of empty space where I can for example pop any buff. I can even almost double weave a jump afterwards. The clip on the next GCD for me is only like 0,1 seconds.

Just because you haven't seem them doesn't mean it doesn't exist.yes i don't know the skills level of other people or their jobs but i've been up with them all the time without any problems, and definedly never seen those magical 4,6k mnk/nin or 4,8k sam.

It has been mathematically proven that DRG is quite a bit less compared to the other melee dps and even the mages including the offensive utility they bring.
Yeah, 4.1k on the same dummy without copious amounts of crit is bullshit (unless you are in a party then you're still not parsing with the same parameters as other classes).
I've pretty much never been outdpsed on the ex primals (not including death runs) as a DRG and yet I still know DRG is weak because the players I have been playing with were less geared or just not good.
i've also mainned DRG since 2.0 and love this job a lot which only got better in HW. and when i heard about changes for 4.0 making every job easier to play while having the same amount of deph build into rotations; i was very sceptical if they could manage to do that and losing a lot of abilities while only gaining dragon sight and mirage dive is very underwhelming;
and with having geirskogul not reducing BotD makes lvl 60-69 rotation feel like lvl 50 rotation more or less (which became boring after the HW changes).
but when you get to lvl 70 you get all that fun back and more. i like building those stacks slowly but i agree to that the're should be skills around 3-5min cd that gives you 4 stacks instantly for opener and the have prety much 90sec long LotD later on the fight.I already dumped a salt mine on reddit that could have made me the richest person on earth 500 years ago.

and for dungeons between pulls it does get a little bit anoying to maintain BotD; but thats not the case in ex primal phase changes; or for laksmi yes but there you can already get 2 or 3 LotD out before that happens and in susano it is possible and very rewarding feeling when you do open the second phase with LotD.
it is true that those numbers wouldn't exist but i'am not going to believe them either before i actually see them.
and here's short clicp from susano dummy with 4098,97 dps. no food, no potions, no party bonus; only chocobo for dragon sight.
also shows that you can still weave 1 other off-GCD at same time as dragon sight for all of those who says it's very clunky skill to use

So you actually already full melded VI.
Going for Direct hit was indeed a good idea and is probably the reason you can go up to 4100.
Having more than just the final number would've been cool, like crit percentil and direct hit percentil.
We already had some kind of numbers, SAM is supposed to be at around 600 dps ahead of DRG, which even with its utility brings only around 300 raid dps, there's still a huge gap.
Not gonna talk about ninja having even more utilitys and being overpowered as always.
DRG having shitty gear full of skillspeed compared to samurai makes the gap even bigger.
About dragon sight, I agree with you, I don't really understand why people are getting so upset, yeah it might feel akward but it isnt hard at all, double weaving it should be a basis.
Staying in a 6yalms range with another melee isnt hard at all either.
Anyway, with Omega coming up in a week there's gonna be some balancing and DRG getting a buff is pretty obvious.
