There is honestly little room for discussion as the developers have said they do not want it. I do not want it and I would guarantee if a poll was taken the majority of players would not want it.

Honestly, SE should just give us one server per region that has parsers. Then we can all go there. The people that don't want to be parsed can stay where they are and have 40-minute dungeons.
No thanks. I like my FF as parse free as possible. Its not needed and there are already unofficial but taboo parsing going on. Anyone who wants to be parsed right now is getting parsed and the rebute about how some ps4 players want a parser to be able to improve have a pretty decent grasp from the event dummies right now that scale for each encounter. Plus Ps4 players who want to be parsed are being parsed. A large % of those people are being parsed and bringing this to a more legit public is ripe for duty finder and player tier status splitting.
And the proof is in the pudding. You can see it going on in games that have parsing so I am not sure why people are going on about how its just anecdotal evidence when the entirety of the other communities are so toxic that its a internet meme in gaming circles.

Then you could stay on a non-parsed server! Everyone could win if they made it server-specific.No thanks. I like my FF as parse free as possible. Why stop at a parser? Why not disable chat too? Then disable names. Everyone is anonymous to one another?
I don't need restrictions to protect me from 'naughty' players. I can and have dealt with them myself. This community just needs to grow some gall and do the same. Stop being so damned sensitive and shy about everything.
It's not unusual to see communities pat themselves on the back for how great they are and how so and so community is awful because its not them, usually their direct competition (no one is like "man I love FFXIV's community, I really hated it on neopets.. ugh they're so toxic!" lol).
I tend to "I dont believe you" to any sort of tribalism, at least until a slew of large data statistics are flown around. It happens all over the place, as well it gets worse because it is also popular to hate on the big/popular fish (which WoW is both of) - so I generally take all WoW bashing with a mountain of salt, I also used to play it personally quite a bit (total time and length of range) and while yes there were rude people (just like in FFXIV) my experience wasn't marred by them (although I don't consider tips/pointing out flaws as harassment, at least depending on wording).
I haven't played recently though, and of course my experience is also "anecdotal", I'm saying it to point out just because a few people had a bad time with Y doesn't mean all of experiences of Y are the same.
Perhaps you are right but the majority of the public group finder protocol harassment is centered around tools that can be utilized for bashing like the parser. And honestly saying just put in a harassment claim is not viable because of the influx of reports for a team I doubt even 1/50th the size of Blizzard customer support team would not be able to deal with it. The parser addition has more negative then positives when there is already a system in place which is the practice dummies. Plus anyone who wants to improve themselves can look on the forums and world wide web for rotations/information and tips the same as anyone. A parser is not needed when you will know you are improving based on beating the timer on the training dummy duties faster and faster. It's not unusual to see communities pat themselves on the back for how great they are and how so and so community is awful because its not them, usually their direct competition (no one is like "man I love FFXIV's community, I really hated it on neopets.. ugh they're so toxic!" lol).

And quite frankly all of my arguments sums up just one thing. I do not want a parser especially when it is not needed.

I feel a compromise would be to only allow parse for anything you can't use party finder and duty finder for. So if they release content and you have to make your own group outside of the basic cross server tools in the game. Its like when you walk by a store and it says if you are offended don't enter. It would be exclusive to your server and chat. Even though people would probably put some sort of advertisement up. Then when they put content up for more players it gets turned off.
Preformed teams are going to be more critical of performance. Which they have a right to. And providing them with a tool seems fair. Even if the tool is the base PvP model of end encounter stats. Not sure what the FF dev team can actually provide in game. But if you group with randoms using the random tools, you should expect the miserable, unable to dodge, and unable to read a tool tip masses.
Fair enough, for me parser is more of a means to an end (and I play casually so watching guides is enough for me to feel good that I'm not super bad, maybe just meh lol).
What I mean by this is that I see them adding a parser is most likely the path to addons, and I loved the QoL addons in WoW. Rather than asking SE to add a search bar into the inventory, and them reply "memory issues, can't" I'll just have an addon do it for me lol. I understand the concern that some addons may bring (DBM*) in which case if SE wants they could have a sort of Apple Store, but I'd still like to see addons. If parsers never get added I basically see addons as /never/ being added either because you'd have to make a pretty bad scripting language for players not to be able to make one themselves if you added addon support, so I see addons and parser being a natural chicken/egg sort of deal (I suppose they could purposefully ban reading damage chat logs but not other logs, but that seems a bit silly.. I'd take it over nothing).
*Although I would add that DBM and like mods make the game easier for casual player, new to MMO, and first time no guide blind run players, since they do things like remind you to stack and tell you to get out of the puddle you're standing in - basically its like if you had a good player sitting in the same room as you, they can't touch your keyboard but they could guide you not to die.. which is both a good and bad thing, makes the game easier and devs wont make it too hard on casual content so that wont change but it does require that the devs make harder content for the harder stuff lol (meaning if you dont use it you're looking at a taller wall). Also of course adding that some of these features are already present in one of the tools discussed in this thread, so its vaguely already here affecting gameplay just that SE has no idea when it is because they've asked not to be told haha. PS4 is not an issue to me since they can use mods (other games have made it work), perhaps Sony made them do a bunch of hoops first though lol.

No, you should want to be performing at your best with or without a meter. If you know your job well enough, you know if you're doing well or not. A meter won't give someone incentive to do better if they don't already have it, and it's pretty naive to think simply looking at raw numbers will make the difference over really practicing and perfecting your rotations, skill and cooldown usage, and implementing them in the best possible manner.Dps meter or not people will harass, but having a meter should spark within you as a player to do better. I think a personal meter if anyth9ng should be an option like I would like to know if im being a burden on the team in reality when Im thinkin Im just doing so well. A meter want lie , a player can lie to themselves about their dps but having a check there I believe would improve overall performance.
No. No no no. Been playing console since I started and I've never needed mods (which are already illegal on console) or addons. Why? Because I've got 2 eyes and good working reflexes. I know when to move out of an aoe. I know when I should stack for something. The game even HAS obvious visual markers for common mechanics now. Why would I need a program to tell me to do something I should know how to do by now? How easy do people want this game to get?*Although I would add that DBM and like mods make the game easier for casual player, new to MMO, and first time no guide blind run players, since they do things like remind you to stack and tell you to get out of the puddle you're standing in - basically its like if you had a good player sitting in the same room as you, they can't touch your keyboard but they could guide you not to die.. which is both a good and bad thing, makes the game easier and devs wont make it too hard on casual content so that wont change but it does require that the devs make harder content for the harder stuff lol (meaning if you dont use it you're looking at a taller wall).
