plz. don't assume what I would/wouldn't like because I don't like the job you main. and it would be SE's version of shogun so that doesn't mean it would use a fan.

heres what the fan was actually for:
Gunbai (Gumbai), Gunpai (Gumpai) or dansen uchiwa (軍配?) were large solid open fans that could be solid iron, metal with wooden core, or solid wood, which were carried by high-ranking officers. They were used to ward off arrows, as a sunshade, and to signal to troops.

Shogun was planned until well into HW development. The core of the job that we now call DRK, used to in fact be SAM, but was changed due to aesthetic similarities of NIN, and the fact that it didn't really fit into HW. So yes, if we got SAM tank, there would be a lot of overlap with DRK, because DRK used to BE SAM. You not liking Shogun based on you not liking DRK isn't an unreasonable assumption.

not much of an argument when we have know idea what samurai would have been like as a tank. drks core is a parry/magic based tank. I highly doubt that sam would be using any kind of magic so what's left ? just parry, the only thing in common with drk. everything else minus the defensive cds and repraisal(probably called something else) would be completely different.

DRKs core is resource management, namely MP. SAM is also famous for resource management (namely TP), it's not a stretch to see how the two handed sword, resource management job used to be SAM.

Let me take a step back and ask you directly, rather than assuming. Imagine SAM was a tank that managed TP like a resource, and had ways of restoring and expending TP so it could be used as a resource to power up attacks, would you enjoy playing it? Because that is how SAM would work best as a tank, and looking at DRK, it is very likely how 3.0 SAM was planned to be.

short answer yes. tp management is already something most jobs are doing. also sam was only famous for its tp in 11. that was the ability to quickly raise and the ability give some of your own to others. which was why it was meta for all endgame. so again, we have no idea what sam would of been like as tank.
