The Legion hype will die down pretty quickly once people realise - once again - that Blizzard are happy to release an expansion and then pump out the bear minimum of content until the next expansion arrives. At this point it's also very dated - and whilst people will of course prefer it to FFXIV for various reasons that is no indication of FFXIV being terrible. With that said, however, 4.0 is going to have to be a big improvement over 2.0 and 3.0 for the sake of attracting new players and appeasing loyal players...but hopefully that will be the case.

As for the voice acting in FFXIV? I think it's incredible and very atmospheric - the 3.0 stuff anyway. 2.0 was more hit and miss.

Well, I prefer FATEs to Guildhests and Guildleves, but yes you can do dungeons and raids instead of FATEs. You can do this in Legion too.

Yes, you can, but why ? You already killed him dozens of time, I guess, so what makes you still want to go there and do that besides "I just want to do it" ?

In XIV, each time you change job, you can roam past zones to do FATEs, to do levequest, to complete you bestiary, or do some quests that you may have left especially for alt jobs. Gathering is also a full system, with its proper endgame especially if you craft upon that. A craft system so complete you could actually only play crafters and still spend months into the game.

You can't purposely skip every reason to travel around the zones then saying there's no reason to do so.
Because theres a ton of loot I never got that I want? Theres Transmogs (Glamour), achievements, personal achievements, mounts, legendary weapons.

What reward do FATEs and Levequests give? They're boring, their monetary rewards are trash and if I don't need the EXP their exp rewards are also trash. Also... even without the EXP, they're still trash. They're typically extremely boring quests "Kill this many of these within this tiny area".

As I said before. Why am I going to do things that are boring? I already said I craft and gather. I do it to make money sometimes. Other than that. Outside of doing my scrips sometimes, I don't do it. Because its really truly boring.

Like I said "Mom I'm bored" response "Go clean your room".

Seriously. You people need to take off the rose tinted glasses. I fucking love this game. I love Final Fantasy. But this game feels way too much like something I should be playing on my Cellphone and next Xpac I'm tossing it if it doesn't change. I've never ever quit an MMO because it was stale. I've walked away for a while to do other things but never really with intention. If things don't change next Xpac, I am gone and I know many. many, many others will be as well.

I really shouldn't expect any less though. These threads always get assaulted by white knights coming to defend the game. Its a pretty game with great combat and story but its content model is absolute shit.

This is the problem I'm refering to.
Yoshi P catering to these WoW players who will just jump ships when Blizzard presents something to get them back on their feet and they leave.
The same people Yoshi P is trying so hard to please on the expense and heart of the FF brand because of adapting to whats already out there.

I really hope they scrap having so many Aetherytes in game. It's mildly acceptable in pre-HW areas as flying isn't accessible but cmon. Next expac is definitely going to make or break the game for me because I'm having a blast with WoW and now theres even an addon to let me play with a Cross Hotbar like XIV.
    .
Wait....so you're miffed because traveling is too easy in FFXIV and you use WoW as a comparison as the better alternative?? Really??

Honestly, this is just my opinion and I mean no disrespect but if you really want to try to make Final Fantasy into a World of Warcraft esque game (FFXIV is already too similar to WoW as it is) I would just go to WoW. I mean...that's what I would do.
I'm not arguing with you about the ease of traveling but I am definitely scratching my head that you're using WoW as how we really should travel.

WoW's quick form of travel is just as "quick" as FFXIV. Hell, in WoW you can fly in the original "vanilla" zones.

Double hell, you can even make your mounts faster in WoW.

Holy crap...All this repetition in one post. It reads like a Donald Trump speech.

I'll break it down for you.
What you're going through right now with FFXIV is called burnout. And now you have a shiny new thing. That's fine and dandy.
Go enjoy that shiny new thing.
And I'm not even saying this in a "Go to your other game if you don't like it here" way. I mean that in a "I've been in your shoes before" way.

You'd be surprised how many threads we get over on the WoW forums, almost daily now, of people in your exact position only with the games reversed. "WoW is stale now. Here's why FFXIV is better" sums it up.
The grass always looks greener on the other side.
You'll eventually get into a loop where you keep ping ponging back and fourth between the two games.

Hell, I'm enjoying FFXIV more right now because I took a break from it for about four months, where as WoW I've been going at it hard since Demon Invasions went live and now I'm getting tired of it.
It's a viscous cycle. One that won't be fixed by you coming onto this or any other forum to complain about it.

But, for real though, world quests can go die.

Do you have every FATE achievements ? FATE minions ? Do you do old dungeons because they can have skins you love ? Do you do treasure hunts ? Do you do hunts ? Sightseeing logs ?

More like "Mom, I'm bored" response "Take this big Lego toy box and build something".

What you're saying basically is "There's no reason to roam around" and each time we give you something that actually asks you to roam around, you reply by "I find it boring".
It's like if you said, "There's only one job to play in this game...because I don't like everything but DRG"

Like if someone doesn't enjoy exploring and epic battles, (and roleplaying... in an RPG) they're probably playing the wrong genre of games. Because... thats kind of the point of an RPG.
And the novelty of this wears thin fast for me, personally. No matter how pretty the aesthetic, I get bored spending lengthily amounts of time just travelling between zones. Even Skyrim eventually gets on my nerves if I play without some form of fast travel. I want to play the game, not set it on auto pilot because my destination is miles away. The open world needs to be both more interesting and far more challenging to ever go in this direction. Not to the point it requires partying up, but enough to keep things interesting. Skyrim difficulty mods to a great job adding immersion in that regard. Unfortunately, this really isn't something MMOs are able to easily pull off due to their purposely broad appeal. Plenty of people are turned off by Requiem's difficulty spike in Skyrim. So while I do think FFXIV can attempt more than it does, there is a limit.

This is actually the premise of the post. Legion may/will/is taking subs from FFXIV.

call me crazy...but if you love WoW so much wouldn't you want to be playing that game?

Stop trying to make Final Fantasy into a WoW clone. It already has so many features that Wow had paved the way for. I mean, seriously. If you think FF sucks..then why the hell are you paying 14 a month for it?
