Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Blizzard finally did something that isn't utter garbage. Hurray. Let us wait first for their patch cycle before we begin discussing who should copy whom.

The Japanese VA is pretty good here I think, and the dragon language is exquisite!
However, one thing that has bothered the heck out of me for a long time is the constant reuse of the same music through every single cutscene. Or the damn battle and fates music. There is good music in many of the boss battles and a few around the world in FF14 but when compared to WoW --> https://youtu.be/EvWH1KKOsoY
or Blade and Soul --> https://youtu.be/FY5KxKAfyCY (this even made me cry when I heard it the first time, and second, and third...), the music in FF14 is pathetic.
The character creation in WoW is poor but in Blade and Soul it's absolutely amazing! If the game wasn't PvP focused and honestly the community quite toxic, I wouldn't be here talking to y'all now.
Here the zones look too similar and are too small for my taste. The ones that are big seems like they are just for the sake of being big.
Blizzard really learned what they did wrong with Warlords of Garrisons and went beyond expectations with Legion.
That being said, I do love this game so very much and I've made some wonderful friends and memories. I won't be stopping any time soon I think. Though I'll most likely continue taking breaks. I've taken longer and more frequent breaks from this game while playing for a little over a year, than I did over six years in WoW. I hope that Squenix will evolve this game into something amazing. It sure has the potential to.

I'm over the fact that the VA's are bad.
I'm talking about the fact that the actual recordings themselves are bad recordings. Like SE's XIV sound tech was hired straight out of college (if they even have one).
"In filmmaking, ambience (also known as atmosphere, atmos, or background) consists of the sounds of a given location or space.[1] It is the opposite of "silence." This term is often confused with presence.
Every location has distinct and subtle sounds created by its environment. These sound sources can include wildlife, wind, music, rain, running water, thunder, rustling leaves, distant traffic, aircraft and machinery noise, the sound of distant human movement and speech, creaks from thermal contraction, air conditioning and plumbing noises, fan and motor noises, and harmonics of mains power.
Reverberation will further distort these already faint sounds, often beyond recognition, by introducing complex patterns of peaks and nulls in their frequency spectrum, and blurring their temporal characteristics. Finally, sound absorption can cause high frequencies to be rolled off, dulling the sound further.
Ambience is normally recorded in stereo by the sound department during the production stage of filmmaking. It is used to provide a movie location with sonic space and normally occupies a separate track in the sound edit"

The Legion hype will die down pretty quickly once people realise - once again - that Blizzard are happy to release an expansion and then pump out the bear minimum of content until the next expansion arrives. At this point it's also very dated - and whilst people will of course prefer it to FFXIV for various reasons that is no indication of FFXIV being terrible. With that said, however, 4.0 is going to have to be a big improvement over 2.0 and 3.0 for the sake of attracting new players and appeasing loyal players...but hopefully that will be the case.
As for the voice acting in FFXIV? I think it's incredible and very atmospheric - the 3.0 stuff anyway. 2.0 was more hit and miss.

This is the problem I'm refering to.
Yoshi P catering to these WoW players who will just jump ships when Blizzard presents something to get them back on their feet and they leave.
The same people Yoshi P is trying so hard to please on the expense and heart of the FF brand because of adapting to whats already out there.

Wait....so you're miffed because traveling is too easy in FFXIV and you use WoW as a comparison as the better alternative?? Really??For my sub at least.
I really hope they scrap having so many Aetherytes in game. It's mildly acceptable in pre-HW areas as flying isn't accessible but cmon. Next expac is definitely going to make or break the game for me because I'm having a blast with WoW and now theres even an addon to let me play with a Cross Hotbar like XIV.
.
Honestly, this is just my opinion and I mean no disrespect but if you really want to try to make Final Fantasy into a World of Warcraft esque game (FFXIV is already too similar to WoW as it is) I would just go to WoW. I mean...that's what I would do.
I'm not arguing with you about the ease of traveling but I am definitely scratching my head that you're using WoW as how we really should travel.
WoW's quick form of travel is just as "quick" as FFXIV. Hell, in WoW you can fly in the original "vanilla" zones.
Double hell, you can even make your mounts faster in WoW.

This is actually the premise of the post. Legion may/will/is taking subs from FFXIV.
And plenty of people are jumping ship on Legion too. Some coming here, some going elsewhere, a few of them foolishly holding out hope that Star Citizen will one day come out and be the best thing since sex.
It's a two way street, or rather, a series of intersections.
I'd love to find this magical MMO that pleases 100% of it's fan base 100% of the time, and siphons the life blood out of other MMO subscription numbers like the denizens of a fat camp for vampires. Such a game doesn't, however, exist.
That is indeed true, but when one person says, "You are losing my sub to WoW" and the follow up is "You should probably go play WoW", i get kinda confused. And plenty of people are jumping ship on Legion too. Some coming here, some going elsewhere, a few of them foolishly holding out hope that Star Citizen will one day come out and be the best thing since sex.

Hmm, I feel you both failed to understand the point of my post. Either that, or you were not actually replying to me, but simply adding your own thoughts on the subject following what I said?Of course it will. Legion is an entire expansion following over a year long content drought. Not to mention, it's coming off the heels of arguably the worst expansion WoW has ever released. People are curious whether Wow can rebound. FFXIV, comparatively, is releasing only a patch to its nearly sixteen month old expansion. The equivalent would be people clamouring how much better XIV is next year when its own expansion is out against the then year old Legion. FFXIV could certainly aim for improvement, but you cannot fairly compare a patch cycle to a full blown expansion.
I did say in my initial post on page 1 that it is unfair to compare Legion and Heavensward atm, as Heavensward has been out way longer.
