DPSing as a healer

It's impossible for your report to do anything to someone who is trying to teach you to play the game effectively, and if you feel offended by simple advice maybe you should stick to premades who will be happy to have a pacifist healer. You're hindering my enjoyment of the game by not putting in any effort.

Not putting any effort? I'm keeping your bum up, so what's the point of doing DPS, when in 2hits, you lose half of your HP or worse, 1 hit if you get crit? Not everyone is in 235 with lore garbage and nidhogg gear, not everyone is over geared for every roulette or dungeons. It's like you people think everyone has the best gear available in HQ with extra meat on it.

This never happens if the tank is actually keeping aggro. Also, I've been healing for 90% of my time in FFXIV and gear is never the primary issue with how much damage we're taking, it's always a lack of proper mitigation cooldown usage or failed mechanics. Where exactly in the roulette do you lose half your health in a single hit? Even at minimum ilvl I could easily keep the party alive through proper usage of the potent healing abilities we're given.

A healer can't DPS if the tank is too unskilled to keep aggro, but they easily can when everyone does their role properly. It's a team effort. Different jobs get abilities outside of their main role for a reason.

I wouldn't know, because that literally does not happen to me. I do know that the healer role is the strongest in the game, because it enables the team to be much tankier than normal while having straightforward (yet powerful) damage spells. It's basically the carrying role of the game.

If a team is failing mechanics and the healer can't keep up, they have no one else to blame and are simply uneducated on the dungeon+role of the healer. While the healer is meant to carry teams through unavoidable damage and a ton of the avoidable damage, they are NOT meant to keep people alive through screw ups like dying to the carpet bomb in Nidhogg Extreme or failed tank swaps.

As teams grow in experience, the healer will have next to no avoidable damage to heal through, and then that's when their role changes from "heal carry" to "50/50 heal/dps carry".

At least for me it's very rare to see this happen, especially for no reason. It's much more common to blame tanks for not keeping hate or DDs for too low DPS or not handling mechanics.

Yeah, if you play healer a lot, and you see this happening a lot, might want to wonder why that's the case.

I've never seen that happen. I'll yell on the forums because 80% of the healers I DF with are terrible but I've never gotten mad at anyone in game for a wipe if it's not specifically mechanic oriented (EG-someone on Ozma decided to overlap meteors despite the positions being clearly marked for them as they screwed them up the first round and wiped us twice).

If you're getting that kind of hate, especially multiple times, what's the common denominator in those situations? It ain't the the DF people.

LOL, I don't post in pages and pages of threads, I respond once and then all of a sudden the next post is "I hope you're not replying to me because you're on my ignore list". You can pretend all you want.
Also, I don't respond for YOU, (whether you're "ignoring me" or not) I respond to add my voice into the cacophony of players trying to help other healers make better decisions than you.
