Yes it was with BLM. Thunder 4 had the highest magic burst potency when used after a skill chain. Did you ever even play BLM or work together with them on skillchains? This definitely changed in future expansions, but this was the go to mechanic for HNM's, especially Kirin comes to mind during Zilart/CoP expansion era.

The reading comprehension thing man. Never said the jobs were pointless and completely non-usable. I said midcore/hardcore parties did not want certain jobs at all until SE either gave them a ridiculous buff that made groups not want other jobs, or gimp a job so much they rather take what was once weaker. Seriously, did you even explore how the community dealt with things outside your own LS? People not wanting to take jobs in because they were not efficient enough or brought little to nothing was an absolute common thing. How many Beastmasters were in people's parties?

I don't blow this out of my ass, these were definitely things that happened in the game and most LS's did not bring jobs that were not wanted. Even in EXP parties, jobs like PLD were not brought to colibri parties in Aht Urghan unless there was absolutely no one else to invite. There are certain jobs I never got leveled at the time just because groups would not invite them. Good for you that you had the LS where they welcomed much less efficient jobs, but people who were very serious and hardcore with end game did not bring them in and only brought jobs that could get the content done as fast and efficient as possible, because getting anything done in that game took a good chunk of your night away.
I have most jobs capped at 99. Blm, whm, rdm, brd, pld, nin, mnk, thf, drg, blu, sam, war, bst, rng. And yeah I was aware of the community. We finished all the endgame content the game had up until the final expansion. Most of us were together since Na pc release. We parsed often.

Again, for the third time thunder 4 is not the best blm spell.

You shouldn't come off so condescendingly, it sounds a lot like those wanna be elitists.

Can you both please stop talking about who is more expert about FFXI? It brings nothing to the topic except polluting it with unrelated off topic stuff.

Regarding the NMs/HNMs I think they tried to do that with the hunts, if they wanted to achieve that they failed miserably because all they do is drop lore and seals and not interesting pieces of equipment or something more rare that makes you scream "WOW see what I just got!" leaving you a sense of satisfaction for the whole day and even more.
Now I'm not saying that they need to copy/paste the NMs system from FFXI but anything that would make us feel rewarded for our hard work or just enough luck sometimes would be nice, not everyone needs to be the same what kept me subbed for years in FFXI was the fact that I wanted to be like that shiny powerful player that had every fabolous piece of gear obtainable in the game and I wanted to work hard to be like him (I'm sure many people understand what I'm saying).
Being everyone a copy/paste of the player next to us gets boring and nobody even inspects you to see what good piece of gear you got on your character(except to see what's the name of the glamour you are wearing), hell actually I don't even remember how the previous tomestone gear was called because it's so volatile that noone really cares at all except to meet the ilvl requirements to join dungeons and raids.

    I IS EXPERT!

On a more serious note. It is interesting that an "I am quitting cause" thread is getting so much attention. It goes to show that this is a topic that for whatever reason is on the forefront of people thoughts. Hopefully SE Dev are taking silent notice.

It's cuz honestly, this thread represents everyone's inner thoughts about the current situation of the game. Sooner or later, that inner voice was bound to come out lol.

I wouldn't say everyone's. But it can be interesting to read nevertheless, even if you often just groan at what people suggest for game changes.

Like, I personally don't actually care about the stats of an item. I just wanna see at a glance if it's an improvement or not, so I can quickly decide whether to take it or leave it. Whether the improvement is due to a proc, some hidden ability, synergy with other stuff, more overall stats or whatever, I don't actually care - just make it obvious which is better and I'm golden. To me, stats have never been more than a tool to clear content and what got me really excited about items has always been the looks. In the end, my endgame has always been glamour and this game caters to this very well.

I also rather like gear acquisition via tokens like tomes because I LOATHE RNG with every fiber of my heart. I don't mind working for items, but I prefer making steady progress towards them, rather than having a binary yes/no drop. Thus, I really like the latest relic steps. Atmas on the other hand can suck it >.> And you can guess what I think of "rare, awesome drops". I'm already getting immensely frustrated with the little RNG we have. Then again, I named myself Jinx for a reason. It's not a new issue.

So...more content, sure, gladly. Who wouldn't like more content? Can wholly agree with that. But overall, I have to say I'm happy with how many of the game systems work and I can't say I want to change my gameplay all too drastically because the game changes to support it less.
