Yup, I'm finding that dropping Forbidden Chakra for Purification for the SSS works wonderfully. The highest potency per TP rotation is the one where you refresh ToD right after it falls off (so, 14 GCDs of the I-II-III and ToD). There's also the option of using less ToD, which uses less TP but it's actually less potency per TP--if you don't use ToD at all, about 3.5% less potency per second! i shiggy diggy
I'll have to scratch something out to see whether it's *actually* worth it, but I feel that SSS dummies are really tuned for you to use ToD. I think you should drop a Forbidden Chakra for Purification if it comes down to that, which should carry you to the second Invigorate until around 700 SS. Probably not worth dropping Forbidden Chakra just for Fracture, though, since that's a more marginal increase.
I don't think this can be stressed enough... Stay away from anyone that thinks content can't be done unless you use Strat XY with Classes A, B and D. It is true of pretty much every MMO as well.Doubt you would wanna run with people who just worship whatever combination some world first group uses. It's cool to try and mimic a mechanic or build they do to make your group better. But to change your group completely or replace members because some other group cleared the content that way is laughable.
Elysium would have downed A8s whether they switched that Monk to a different melee or not.
World first groups are often doing content with gear levels lower than the content was intended to be run with which means they are going to use strats and comps that are not always best. Then there is stuff like MrHappy and GarudaEX... I could have slapped him for the nightmare he created for melee on that fight.
What's a good way to use PB if you've already got gl3? And what is SSS?
Couldn't agree more.I don't think this can be stressed enough... Stay away from anyone that thinks content can't be done unless you use Strat XY with Classes A, B and D. It is true of pretty much every MMO as well.

Too bad my server didn't get the memo.

What exactly did he say? I came back a couple months before Heavensward. Is it one of those "take only BRD/BLM jobs to everything" mentality that ran rampant in the early days of ARR?I don't think this can be stressed enough... I have put some of these in the post however I do have to disagree on one of them partly because you are suggesting things done that ignore mechanics. Such as getting hit by boost, it should not be part of the mechanic to get hit, but i agree if you do have a healer willing to do that its possible. Remember this guide is too help you maximise dps while doing proper mechanics, although I don't say it, that's the way i've always think while doing this guide. And as you say this guide is mainly directed to new monks and being new monks I don't want to teach them to ignore mechanics as such when they get to higher level raids, they will fail. Midas normal is a raid which teaches you some of the mechanics for savage. Don't want to teach them bad habits![]()
A6s Tips, haven't been to far in the fight since my group has been having some attendance issues (a lot of RL stuff popping up for peeps). But still some things I noticed :
Blaster
- Howling Fists : Don't use it in your opener, you can hit 3 of the Blaster Mirages during the DPS check if you back up far enough. This means you get 3 Hits instead of 1 if you just wait ~40 Seconds into the fight.
- You can hit two of the Blaster Mirages with Rockbreaker if you back up far enough.
- You can hit all 5 Blaster Mirages with Elixir Field if you stack on top of the middle one.
- I wouldn't put any dots on the mirages (maybe Demo but I haven't counted the tics yet)
- Don't end up being the person doing the Mind Blast mechanic
- Since I do not think TP will be an issue, you can look into using Arm of the Destroyer instead of Bootshine to hit all 5 of the Blaster Mirages (Only worth it while all 5 are alive). 5 X 50 Potency = 250, (1 Crit ~275 Potency, 2 Crits ~300 Potency, 3 Crits ~ 325 Potency, 4 Crits ~ 350 Potency, 5 Crits ~ 375 Potency). Compared to Bootshines 225 Potency (150 * 1.5 Crit Modifier) Of course this changes a bit due to the Crit Damage Modifier added in 3.0 but this is close enough to show my point.
Brawler
- Try and end up being the person baiting the closest Stun Lock attack, so you don't need to move away from the boss.
- I suggest you just hold shoulder tackle to handle the mechanics where you do need to back away from the boss.
- This is a pretty straight forward fight until the end so there isn't much you can do but try and sneak back in early for mechanics. You don't need to actually wait for the single target missile to go off before you go back in btw, you can run back in when he starts turning and you shouldn't get one shotted. (Just don't Shoulder Tackle immediately after he starts to turn, wait like half a second or so).
I do wonder though if it would be better to do the full rotation from Arm of Destroy > Twin Snakes > Rock Breaker, or just spam Arm of the Destroyer until the first Mirage Blaster dies or you are about to lose GL and need to then finish out the rotation.

He created a "take only Brd/Blm/Smn job to gardua ex" mentality by making it sound like his teams strat was the best... and the only way of doing the fight. The problem was the strat he showed (and everyone insisted on using) sucked in general and it made Drg/Mnk lives hell. It was so bad that I used my poorly geared Pld instead of Mnk (second best geared monk on the server) for that fight just to keep from wanting to stab myself in the face.
I think he does a better job now explaining there are other ways to do fights... and it wasn't his fault. Its just that sheep see something like his video on that fight and decide it is impossible to do the fight any other way. I had similar issues with Titan EX at first but on that fight I was able to force people to listen to me because the DPS checks where tight and I was the top dps and I never failed the mechanics.
Both melee can stay on the boss (if you run a double melee comp) on the left and right of the boss at max range within striking distance. You could also bait this so 1 melee is always closer and have all melee based classes on the boss.
