Please let us socket materia without crafting

I've wanted melding to vanish for ages.
It's stupid on many levels.

We all know in FF7 that Cloud & crew stopped their adventures to sit down and craft so they could put material in their gear.
/sarcasm_off

And ever since Material became available on new gear. Crafter have started raising prices on it.
I am NOT paying 200k to slot materia. Ever.

Removing melding would not make crafter obsolete.
In fact it would promote folks to meld more.
Having such a key gameplay aspect 100% tied/reliant on players is flawed.

That said. If they removed the lvl requirement to melding as a crafter. I guess no one would complain then.

But I remember in WOW people could slot their own gems. They just needed the crafter to make the gems/cut them.

It didn't kill crafting in that.

Crafter need to get over themselves. You make plenty of Gil.
Folks being able to slot and unslot materia will not break your bank accounts.

But on the flip side...
Maybe melding could be used to add materia when all the slots have been filled.
Aka: Overmelding.
THAT imo should require a crafter.

From a logical standpoint. Anyone could put an object into a slot.
But slotting an object where there is no slot...that would be difficult.
