If the gear can't be overmelded what is the point of overmelding?

Your prices are way too low. That way nobody would need a crafter for the melds ever, because earning the gil would take as much time as looking for a crafter.

The NPC could be an option, but it shouldn't be more effective than the crafters.
Most crafters do it for free (And I'm one of them), and accept tips, even when they don't expect tips.

Several just admitted to doing melds for free here in this forums.

You also gotta consider that this is PER MELD. Accessories and belts have one slot.

    main gears have two slots.

If you wanna meld ALL the pieces with tier 5, you're looking at 160K

Okay Maybe you're right that is too low.

However, 200K is too damn high lol.

200K doesn't seem that high at all as you aren't going to be melding 24/7.

Right now you can sell something as simple as the elm logs for 400 gil on Ragnarok. That's about 4k a minute, 40k per 10 minutes, 200k per 50 minutes. It takes almost no time to level botanist enough to gather these. Or you could farm materials from the monsters which would be as much effective. Making gil is quite easy but players must be actively working on it, instead of wanting everything handed to them without effort.

This seems to be the core issue here, and you are right. It would be a slap in the face of crafters if they allowed raiders to be anti social after forcing the specialist system into its current state. ("hey guys, raiders can now be independent and don't need you for melds, but you are still useless without other crafters because we took away omnicrafting")

I don't think an NPC would work (as much as it would be nice), because pricing would be hard to do, either its the better choice over crafters, or its useless.

I find it funny that some people are equating this with being anti social. The noncrafters spend most of their time in game in parties with other people tackling content. Go to the Jeweled Crozier and look at all the crafters sitting 10 yalms away from the MB and not moving for days on end. Who are the anti social ones again?

Let me also add, it's not a matter of leveling ONE job DoH to 60 for this, it's leveling 4-5 for most. Even using GC dailies it would take months for most people to level all the jobs they need to meld this gear: right around the time when this stuff becomes obsolete and the next big thing comes out.

Yes and no, there are two sides to being a crafter, there is the mindless sit in front of the MB and craft, that is for easy recipes that require cheap mats, and we could safetly (though not entirely accurately) compare that to going into duty finder and getting a random party, running with that party and not speaking. The other side is very social, it involves gathering with people, dealing with specialist (me and a friend worked together to make king cakes), and selling items and providing services outside of the MB, which can be compared to using party finder. So before you call out crafters for being anti-social, we are kinda forced not to be now if we want to get anywhere with our crafts.

Or... ask a friend to meld. And just so you know, it took me two weeks to level all of my crafts from 15-50, and im progressing through HW quite quickly too (CRP took a day, LTW took a week).

The specialist system may have forced crafters to depend on each other but raiders have had to depend on 7 other raiders for a very, very long time now so I think your comparison is a little off.

I think NPC pricing would actually work out easily, mostly because I'm getting the feeling that most crafters don't charge for melds. Even if a sizable number of crafters do charge for it, I don't think it would be a big deal for an NPC to act as the standard ceiling price, so to speak.

Still not getting what the issue is here.
No one has reported being unable to get someone meld for them and many crafters will meld for free or be happy if offered a tip.

I get that some people just don't want to have to talk to other players, even though this is an MMO, but even they have an option. All they have to do is level their crafters to 60. As somebody pointed out, you can do it through leves and buy the turn ins, you don't even have to craft!

I don't think it's reasonable to ask for a major change in the game just to suit a few people who absolutely refuse to interact with others or put in any work.

Im not seeing the problem here with this example. I mean thats how quite a few people have levelled their crafters by taking their time.

Also sure lore gear might be obsolete by the time you get your crafts to 60 but at least when the next gear set comes out you can meld instead of most likely coming to the forums again and making the same exact topic.

Some people in this thread act as if those with 60 crafts pushed one button and got 60s over night.

Months is a huge overstatement. You can cap a crafting class in a few days through leves alone, less so if you have 99 in reserve. Much less so if you do the blue scrips (which also procures you materials that you can sell or master books)

Take leves and buy the turn-ins (a lot can be bought from vendors). It doesn't take months. I know one person who levelled GSM in a couple of days!
    Or, even quicker,
Talk to someone, ask a friend or put out a shout in a city. Your meld will be done in minutes. How hard is that?
