Is that image new? I could have sworn that kicking due to "different playstyles" /used/ to be okay, but later was removed and became a misuse of the kick feature. Which is why they added the afk/offline/harassment options and made those the only reasons to kick.
I've had similar experiences, usually with bards that refuse to use wanderer's minuet (or worse, don't know what it is, yes this has happened in 56+ dungeons x.x).
It's just the bar for DPS is set so much lower than it is for healers and tanks since this game's dungeon's are so easy and leveling doesn't teach much. It's a bit unfair, really, because you can guarantee if you have a bad tank or healer they're never gonna hear the end of it, but heaven forbid someone give criticism to a dps. :P
Baloney.
It all comes down to this. FFXIV, WOW etc... are games. As such, people play them for different different reasons. Some players want to just hop on, hit the buttons, and walk away when done. Others want to do well and research their class and the encounters a bit. None of that has anything with WoW or any other game.
The drama comes in because the more dedicated players don't or won't understand the more casual player's viewpoint. To them, it's a game. The best a more dedicated player can do is to focus on their own performance and seek out other players who are of like mind. Expecting someone to change how they play because you told them to is an exercise in frustration.
No. Good players do understand those looking for more casual play, and aren't at their best. People understand that most won't be putting up A3S clearing numbers (heck, even A1S clearing numbers, though in full 210 as many are getting now you should be able to without much trouble if you know your basic rotation)
This is something else. This is players just being *bad*. Players who think they can do whatever they want and that the people they play with don't matter one bit.
This is an MMO, you *will* be playing cooperatively with others. Having a "me me me me" attitude not only hurts yourself, but everyone you party with. If you can't be bothered to play at least adequately, learning your basic rotation, gearing up with the correct gear (meaning, no MIND accessories on a NIN and that sort of thing. Yes, I've seen that) then this isn't the game for you (or, don't do content with people you don't know. That works too)
There are countless single player games, and CoD, for you to do whatever you want, regardless of what anyone else does.
Hm...? To good players, it's a game too. I know players that play games way less hours per week than the so called "casual players" and still are better than them. No one is expecting players to be playing at the top of its skill ceiling, but I don't know, they should at least try, maybe. Doing 400 DPS with i200 gear is literally pressing one button over and over again.
Low standards are acceptable for all roles. Specially when healers and tanks can pull the Prima Donna Diva card. Bad players will find all excuses in the world to justify bad play, it's not worth to care about it. For example, whenever I have a bard in my party, I just pretend that 'Foe Requiem' does not exist.
Not really, as when a tank or healer screws up/is bad, people die. When a dps screws up/is bad...oh well, the fight takes a little longer.Low standards are acceptable for all roles. tough talk for someone who doesnt have blm to 60
Indeed, but it's still acceptable most of the time anyway. I think most players just don't care, including me, even if for different reasons. I don't even remember the last time someone was called out for bad play in DF.
Also, just being able to maintain aggro as a tank and keep the tank alive as a healer is not exactly high standards IMO.
